Dre & Daz prod. for SO SO GANGSTA?
« on: January 18, 2004, 06:33:31 AM »
This was posted over @ dpgrecordz.com. Interesting....

Quote
There is SERIOUS talk between JD and Dr. Dre to work on Daz's next album titled SO SO GANGSTA..

Dr. Dre (along with Eminem), wanting to sign Daz months ago, has been talking with JD about working co-op in regards to Daz's new album...Daz wants to produce the entire album and tear Dre out of the picture (because of the ghost producing beef)...

Dre would like to work with Arista and make Daz his next big project...to quote "Daz has always had commercial talent, its always been about stabalizing himself"..."he has the worth ethtic it takes to touch the market and SLAM DUNK!".."its just a mattter of getting into the studio with him and letting shit flow"...

Daz has no plans of signing a co-op deal with Interscope and Arista...but JD IS looking (and working very hard) into getting Dr. Dre and Daz back together to produce the ULTIMATE reunion album....(Side Note: Jimmy Iovince has/had HUGE interest in signing Daz to Interscope (before 50 Cent)...due to Interscope's instability..Daz and I turned down the Shady and Aftermath offers)...

As of now..Daz is still working on his So So Def Project...which is to be considered his first OFFCIAL project EVER in his career...Daz doesn't consider RETALITION as a real project because the drama Death Row was going through at the time the LP dropped...

he wishes to do this to boost his name in the hip-hop market...recently, Jay-Z asked Daz to produce on the Black Album...Daz turned down due to beats not being good enough (according to Daz's ear) for Jay-Z's album..Jay-Z chose 2 beats he was interested but Daz was not finished with them and didn'tlike them..in similar news Dre's beats did not make Jay-Z's supposed retirement album...

Daz and Dr. Dre (the producers of the infamous 'Chronic' and 'Doggystyle' albums) last spoke during a recording session for the 213 album...DJ Whoo Kid (DJ of The Year 2003 [Source: Justo]) and I tried to convince both parties to create a Production Reunion track on the 213 album...this was impossible to make possible..."they're TOO GOOD 4 EACHOTHER"...

you guys don't know about the amount of disagreements both parties have...whereas Daz wants to keep it street and "gangster"...Dre wants to make sure everything he drops is "commercial" and "radio-friendly"...

As of now, Daz is going to continue working on his album...in the meantime...Dr. Dre will be producing along side producer Scott Storch, Mel-Man, Soopafly, Fredwreck, and Red Spyda for Daz's album...Dre's beats will not be guaranteed for Daz's next album but they will be submitted....

after I spoke to Daz..Daz said.."i might put some dre shit on my 2nd so so def project, i need my first to slate my name in the hip-hop game...i wanna produce the whole thing...i've been in the game too long to NOT be noticed by these people bending over for a nobodies like CASSIDY..who the fuck is that guy?...R. Kelly rips it...the other dude strips it and makes it sound like something PROTOTYPE..."

50 Cent was HIGHLY interested in signing Daz to G-Unit Records prior to The Game's signing...50 Cent wanted to handle Daz's project personally...being a huge fan of his...Daz, before G-Unit negotiations could take place, signed himself to Arista Entertainment aka So So Def...Arista is responsible for 7 out of the 10 HOT 100 Billboard singles...the seven...Hey Ya by Andre..Way You Move by Big Boi..Milkshake by Kelis...Damn by YoungBloodz...Yeah by Usher...White Flag by Dido..and...Why Don't U by Santana..

The G-Unit Records hookup was setup by myself and DJ Whoo Kid..DJ Whoo Kid and I act as A&R for G-Unit Records...

recently So So Def (JD's label) and Aftermath (Dre's album) had beef...this has been entirely cleared...[we all know why this happened...promotional tactic]

final ish...Daz and Dre possibly hooking up?...I'd love for this to happen...its just theres too much animosity between the both of them...When Whoo Kid and I tried to get them back together it was totally wierd...it was like they never met eachother...we'll see though...they both have INSANE chemistry that only the fans can see....after Dre and Daz left...Whoo Kid and I stook around to speak with Snoop...Snoop said "to have ONLY Daz and Dre work on my album would be a dream...i can't ask for it because the shit going on between them...is between them...i can only wish one day I can sit next to both of them at the same time and create more classics..."..

after hearing Snoop speak on Dre and Daz.. I have a totally NEW FOUND confidence in Snoop...the fact that he mentioned Daz in his success is OMGU...

Something in there don't look right, just can't put my finger on it... Got a strong feeling this is BS, although having Dre & Daz work together would be dope.

That bit about Dre wanting everything to be commercial & radio friendly sounds a bit like hateration to me though. That's the Neptunes who do that. Just because Dre don't do the old gangsta sound Daz still does don't mean everything he does is commercial.

But that's just me though.

WTF :o :o

there's nothing i would love more than to see dre and daz together again
but damn daz entirely producing his labum is good enuf for me. and turning down jay-z.......that means he;s really giving everything for this cd.....damn cant wait for this to come out.....i dont for 1 second believ wat snoop said about wanting to work wit daz and dre and how he would love to have his entire album produced by them....thats bullshit...60% of his next album will probably be produced by p. diddy and neptunes

good news tho...hope its true. atleast theyre talking about getting together again.

always take dpgrecordz news wit a pinch of salt tho

I'd love to believe lots of the good stuff there would happen, but like T-Dogg said, there's just something about it that leaves me unconvinced... fingers crossed though, I guess.

Things I believe:

50 trying to sign Daz to G-Unit records - could be possible considering the whole DPG-Unit thing and Daz & 50 both having the same mixtape DJ, Whoo Kid. Then again, I have NEVER heard 50 discuss DPG-Unit and wasn't there a rumour that a track featuring DPG would be on 'Beg For Mercy'? This could be true, but there's not enough proof...then again, is Daz (or Kronik) was lying about that it would fuck up any connections he had with 50 as I doubt they'd want to be connected to someone who spreads bullshit...in that case, I hope its true because whether you like him or not having 50 and G-Unit on Daz's team would have done his career wonders mainstream wise...

Daz producing his entire next album - Yeah, probably true. Daz has finally landed a big deal and I reckon he'll want to show any new listeners his skills behind the boards and what he is capable of. Then again, since he's signed to So So, shouldn't we expect at least one track from JD?

What I think is BS:

Dre and Em EVER trying to sign him to Shady/Aftermath - Hahaha...I'm a big Daz fan, but come on. Daz been saying shit like this for a loooong time. First there was the poster for 'The Black Phantom - coming soon on Shady Records' that just happened to appear on the Gangstaville forun. Then there was the news that Daz was in the studio doing beats for Shady artists...how come NONE of these appears. Same shit applies to Daz is in the studio doing beats or working with Shady/Jadakiss/Ruff Ryders/Jay-Z/Nelly/50/insert big-name East Coast rapper of your choice here...there's never any proof to back these claims up.

The Dre beats issue - total BS. Daz has dissed Dre one too many times in the past for Dre to ever take interest in him again in my opinion.  If there is so much tension between Dre and Daz, why was Daz almost pleading for a guest spot on 'Detox' in his interview with Aftermath Music? If Daz is still connected with Dre at all you think he could holler at the Doc himself and not through an unofficial fan web site ::) My guess is Dre and Daz haven't seen or even spoken to each other in years.

JD and Dre beef a publicity stunt - now this is where this post gets shady. There is NO WAY this beef was merely for promotional tactics. Listen to how heavily Em and X blazed JD on their diss freestyle, and Em says something like: 'I stay beefing with JD 'til the day Dre 2-Ways me to say its okay and to stop blazing him' and then goes on to call him a 'gay midget cock-sucker'. This beef has cleary died down but no one should buy this 'promotion' explanation - dude, neither Dre nor JD NEED more promotion then they already have! ;D

Daz in the same room as 213, Dre and Whoo Kid - I ain't even going to go into detail on this one. Its pathetic. If this meeting had really gone down Kronik would have been bragging about it a long time ago. Why is this supposed truth only being told now? As for the so-called ''quote'' from Snoop, pfft. Snoop has eyes and ears everywhere. If this is phony, Daz might have some beef on his hands again ;)

Finally, I'll tell you why this posted was in the forum and not on the news page. Because kronik knows ain't no big artists like Dre or 50 checking that Gangstaville stuff. If it was posted on the main page of DPG Recordz the word would eventually reach 50 or Dre of these little 'facts' and BOOM! There goes any affiliation with 50, any hope of securing Dre beats, etc. They would also straight clown Daz if it was false by coming out publicly and saying so, making Daz look like a total fool...

BOTTOM LINE (HOW I FEEL): Daz's own little publicity stunt to get people hyped for 'So So Gangsta' and to build people's hopes for that album. DPG Recordz should learn to keep it zipped until they can prove their worth :-X

...Seeing as you're the closest thing to an official Aftermath web site I think you should try and holler at the Aftermath offices about this post at the DPG forum regarding Dre & Daz. Its a long shot, but I reckon if Dre heard about this he would want to ''clarify'' the situation (eg:- confirm that this is all total BS)  ;D

Yeah, that's the one. Then again, I guess its pretty safe to say that most stuff posted on DPG Recordz is uh...a little unreliable! ;D

I dunno if he's talking about a Dre & Mel track as a duo, or some beats by Dre and some beats by Mel. Still, I'd like to see some proof surrounding this post. DPG Recordz posts so much news that would be cool if it was true but never seems to materialise. Just once, I'd like to find out if this info was strictly true or false. Of course, I have my own suspicions... :D

god knows.. there are various inconsistencies within that which people have taken apart in another post..
