What do you think of these albums???
« on: January 27, 2004, 08:24:26 AM »
I've seen a couple of albums on eBay recently that I am considering putting in bids for. They are all either out of production or fairly rare to find these days. Even better, their starting prices are all very reasonable considering how hard to find these are. Anybody who has any of the albums listed, I would appreciate some feedback on whether you think its worth picking up or not, favourite tracks, etc. Thanks!

The albums are:

*KING TEE - THA TRIFLIN' ALBUM
*PHIL DA AGONY - SMOKEFEST ALBUM (Internet only release apparently)
*RBX - NO MERCY, NO REMORSE
*SOUTH CENTRAL CARTEL - SOUTH CENTRAL HELLA
*YUKMOUTH - THUG LORD (I know this one ain't OOP, but I've found it difficult to get a hold of)
*RASCO - ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ (CALI AGENT) (Can't say I have heard any of this guy's material, but the seller insists its a dope West Coast album)

I dunno if I can afford to bid on all of these, so if anyone has heard more than one of these releases I would be grateful if you could tell me which one you prefer. Thanks again! :D

Only heard the SSC. It's OK - far from wack but it doesn't make you go :o either. Compared to some of their others it's distinctly average.

But is it that rare? It only came out a matter of months ago.

I've heard several tracks of the RBX-album and I'd say: buy it. But you must like RBX,dark beats and weird songs to like it. If you don't you'll probably consider it wack and better leave it alone.

I've only heard two of those:
King Tee - Tha Triflin Album. Dope album, nice DJ Pooh production from 93 and good guest appearances by Threat and Ice Cube + the Ice Cube/King Tee St. Ide's commercial

RBX - good album, I recently saw many at a dollar store, I liked it better than i thought but he recycles a lot. Favorite track is not listed, it's #15 "Long Beach". Production by Polar Bear I believe.

That Phi Da Ag is a best of somewhat. It has a lot of his features over the years and various tracks he's put out. It's dope. Some L.A. Underground shit.

If you like when Yuk yells, Thug Lord is for you. Solid album. Great production. Hot lyrics.

The Rasco album is tight. If you like Planet Asia, you'll like Rasco(since they're the Cali Agents).

*SOUTH CENTRAL CARTEL - SOUTH CENTRAL HELLA
I was positively surprised, it's not a classic, but it's a good album, you can buy it. not rare tho

Not bad, not his best tho. Still for a good price I'd cop it, far from wack

i've heard parts of this one, i didn't feel it that much especially as for production

Thanks for the help guys. I was always gonna pick up Yuk's album but I figure now I'll cop that RBX one for sure now also as a few people have said it is good and, whilst you either love or hate his music, I've always liked RBX's style. King Tee is another one I'm thinking of buying - I don't think as much people have heard this one (myself included) but the seller really praises it and, fair enough he could just be saying that for a sale, but reading his other item descriptions gave me the impression that he was up on his rap and hip-hop knowledge. SGV, I'm still considering bidding on Rasco. My listening of Planet Asia is fairly limited but I have heard a few tunes off mixtapes, other people, etc. and what I've heard seems good so I might as well place a small bid since they are all going at good prices.  South Central Cartel - I think I'll give that a miss for now...and Phil Da Agony's appears to be going a little outta my budget! ;)
