I got hooked in when Superman died, and collected Superman, Batman, Spawn, and Wolverine (and related titles) for about 2 years. I quit for several years, then started my current job, my manager's a big comic freak. I started again about a year ago, and collected for about 6 months to see what was going on with the Batman storyline (I also restarted collecting spawn and wolverine). Eventually I came to the realization that they'd never do anything interesting or 'permanent' with the Wayne character, so I stopped reading again, lol.

^ Death of Superman was what brought me into comics too. I enjoyed the storyline, but didn't like the 4 superman story after it. I was pretty much exclusive to DC comics, but I did read a few xmen books along the way.

Man, I loved all of that superman story. They probably dragged the 4 superman thing on a little long, but they couldn't go right back and bring him back in 6 months, you know? I believe it went on about a year and a half before they brought him back. They KIND OF dropped the ball on bringing him back, (the way they did it), but the 4 characters thing I thought was awesome. 1 was a clone of him (superboy), 1 was a man who had done good deeds and was physically touched by him shortly before he died (The Man of Steel), one was half robot, and one was evil or something? I can't remember the last one.
Speaking of the X men, shortly after that, they did the Wolverine story where Wolvie had all of his adamantium ripped out of his body. Until then, everybody thought Wolvie had claws implanted while he was in the Weapon X program, but in a book shortly after magneto withdrew the adamantium from him (he sucked all of it out through wolvie's pores, since magneto can control metal)... shortly after that, there was this AWESOME book, where Wolvie was trying to prove that he still could be an X-man without his claws and adamantium... so he asked Proffessor X to let him in the Danger room (I think that's what it's called). It's the room they train in... so anyways, in the book, he's in the danger room, and these 3 robots are beating the shit out of him, and Cyclops and everybody are wanting prof X to shut the program down so Wolvie doesn't get killed (his recuperative skills were drained when he saved himself from dying from losing the adamantium)... so, they're staring through this window at wolvie in the room, and you see this "
" look on their face, and the words "SNIKKKKTTTT" appear on the page... you turn the page, and wolvie's lying on his knees, with his head back screaming, and 3 bone claws extending through the bloody ends of his fists.... come to find out, the claws were part of his skeleton, and they just covered them with adamantium in the Weapon X program.
That's the best comic book I've ever read, that shit was emotional, lol. He then went on to kick ASS for several months with bone claws.

Oh, and at the end of the book, he's sitting there talking to Jubilee by a stream, and a butterfly comes and flys by him, he goes "SNIKKKKT" and his claw spits out through his fist, blood goes everywhere, and she goes "so that reopens the wound everytime you do that?" and he goes "Yep" ... and she goes "Does it hurt?" and he goes "Yep".... LOL awesome story.

Yeah, might have been a shluck, I can't remember, lol. It was very expressive, whatever it was, haha. I'm not sure if it was #75... I could be wrong, but I THINK Wolvie #75 is the one he had the adamantium withdrawn in, I don't believe they crammed all that in one book, but they might have. I think it started in Wolvie #75, and then there was like X-men #480 or something right after that with the rest of the story. It might have all been in Wolvie #75 though, I can't remember.

Thats' what killed it for me, all the arcs, that shit gets so annoying. I don't fucking WANT to buy Fantastic Four or the new Hulk book or whatever you want to cross over into. They had superman cross over into the Justice League, which had like 6 fucking books. Yeah, like I'm gonna make that mistake and open that can of worms. Pretty soon I'd be collecting like 10 fucking titles trying to keep the story straight, lol.
By the way, if you want relief from all the comic book bullshit, simply buy Spawn. Doesn't crossover. Price is still like 2.25 for a high gloss full color book, best deal in comics. Has 3 or 4 concurrent series with spawn characters, but shit... they don't crossover. You can read "Spawn" for 2 years and have no idea that he appeared in "Sam & Twitch" 2 months ago. I love that, that's how it should be, you shouldn't have to spend 20 dollars a month just to keep the storyline together.
