Used to spend hours on Final Fight.  Not really much to it as a game but it had me addicted.

& Ridge Racer with the sit in car and movie screen, that rocked for its time

i agree that street fighter II was huge i remember always going to the corner and playing that shit for hours with Guile....kickin ass.....SONIC BOOM!

Street Fighter II hands down. My personal favorite was Turbo, though anyone of them were tight, 'cause I would whip ass with Ryu all day long. Haduken

That version is dope. I remember when I fist saw it at Wal Mart in West Monroe, Louisiana back in the days.

We on the left coast call it the touch of death.  A few people also did the handcuffs with guile.

In the 80's it was pac man.  I had pac man fever.  Until I 4got how to do the apple pattern which I would use & end up on the key level which the power pellets no longer against the ghosts   

Mario Bros. 
Super Mario Bros. but I was average at it.  Passed it on the nes home version.
