good rap is pretty much dead right now.  sellout, wack ass, commercial, mainstream ass shit for the kids is well alive and kickin.  If you grew up listening to shit like spice 1, jayo felony, old death row, old sic wid it, mc eiht, nwa, then yes rap is dead.  If you grew up listening to eminem, 50 cent, remixed pac, sellout snoop, then no, rap is not dead.

he got asked that like 4 times in 4 different threads already... he ALWAYS ignored it even tho he posted again in this thread, I guess he doesnt know it and is embarrassed due to this ....
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

"Where were you the day hip-hop died/
Is it to early to mourn, is it too late to ride"?
Talib Kweli

Anyway.. like Mos Def said... if you want to know where hip-hop is at?  Look at where we are at.  People act like hip-hop is some giant in the foot hills.  If we are messed up than hip-hop will be messed up.

In my opinion hip-hop has lost it's soul and it is too sexually exploitative.

Ibrahim Islam hit the nail on the head with the Mos Def quote, if you believe and follow what you think hiphop should be, then that is what it will be.

One thing I've noticed on this forum is that a large quantity of posts in this section (West Coast) keep going on about how the west isn't what it used to be, how west coast gets no support, rap died when Pac died, and loads of bullshit like this. Peep Outbound and you hardly get any of that type of shit, everyone just posts about what they think is dope and not. Just buy/download the dope music that is still coming out if you look below the surface, and plug the gaps in your collection of the older stuff, and stop complaining bout the lack of dopeness/recognition these days. Trust me, you'll enjoy the music much more.

For all those that like that old school west coast and think that's real rap, listen to I Used to Love H.E.R. by Common. Rap has died over and over again. I died when Run DMC changed the whole sound and made a more rock base music, it died when MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice became dancers and it died when Gangstas took over. It's been dead, it's dead now that all this bling bling has over shined the message. The only difference this time is everyone agrees it's dead, not just the backpackers, and I don't believe it's dead, as the production is better now than ever. I just wait for the real aspect of rap to comeout again, as it always does.
