fuck mixtapes
« on: March 07, 2004, 10:32:28 AM »
alright i dont understand this...guys like

big mike, dirty harry, funk flex, tony touch, dj l, kayslay, etc....are making tons of fuckin money doing mixtapes that have absolutely nothing to do with them. they didnt produce the tracks, they didnt write them, rap on them, or anything to make them have any reason to put out an album of these songs and make money. then they sit there and talk through the whole damn album and say the same shit over and over again. 90% of the songs are either not full, not cd-q, or both. what the hell is the point of this? do any of you actually spend money on this crap?

aight, i do feel u on this one, theres a lot of 'dj's' who put out and host tapes with a couple exclusives and several known songs which are mostly mediocre and spoil the good tracks by screamin their names over and over again

but still i definitely wouldn't say
fuck mixtapes
cause there's the other kind of mixtape too, tapes by dj's who mix, scratch, put an MC's verse over sumbody else's beat, etc etc. For example check out Primo's tapes, he might scratch his name in a couple times but he don't fuckin scream it till u start to hate him or put it in the middle of sum track, also he shows all types of dj'in skills...that's the type of mixtape i luv

I highly doubt they are getting rich off them.  most people download/burn the mixtapes.

yeah but what is an exclusive at that point most likely wont be in a matter of weeks or months. now and then they have something that wont be released anywhere else (like a lot of kayslays streetsweepers retail tape) but 90% of mixtapes is just advance shit...its really kinda stupid.

It's a whole culture in NYC.  It's a competitive world.  Most of these dj's are also radio dj's too.

I cant disagree with you there. They just ruin the songs, especially DJ Clue!

ok the reason they shout on the songs is to protect the artist and make you want to buy their record, its promotion thats all.

most of them are djs for a certain artist when they go on tour so they get money for that too

iraq would just get annexed by iran

That would be a great solution.  If Iran and the majority of Iraqi's are pleased with it, then why shouldn't they do it?

to protect the artist? so what about DJ Clue's cds where the songs are mainly only on his albums. or KaySlays retail cd which was the same way...or funkmaster flex...most arent protecting anything.
