KAPENBURI, Kenya, March 8 (UPI) -- It came a bit late, 10 years to be exact, but the farmer in Kenya finally got a bath, courtesy of his neighbors who couldn't stand the odor any longer.

The 52-year-old bachelor farmer from the town of Kapenburi in the northwest part of the African nation, allegedly hadn't bathed for 10 years, the BBC reported Monday.

His odor became so overpowering the neighbors led by four muscular men finally decided to put an end to their torture.

The four lay in waiting as the farmer was returning home from his farm and tied him down with ropes before giving him a thorough wash, the report said.

Many people reportedly watched the public wash including the local chief, the BBC said.

Neighbor Rogers Kimwei said they could not bear the man's body odor and were forced into the public cleansing plot.
