My Review of Little Brother at the Jazz Cafe, London Last Night + Pics

Arrived at about 7:30pm at the Jazz Cafe, to give me some time to get my drink on before the show itself started. The DJ there always plays loads of jazz and soul tracks that have been sampled by hiphop songs, which keeps things interesting. He flipped it up to some Black Star, Brand Nubian, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Tribe, De La Soul stuff for like the last 45 minutes to get peeps in the mood for Little Brother.
At about 9:30pm Little Brother came out on stage, by which time I had managed to hustle my way into the second row from the front, and opened with a track I hadn't heard before, which was real dope. From then onwards they went through most of The Listening sounding perfectly on point throughout, amongst various freestyles (mainly from Phonte), some Biz Markie esque dancing, and some general comedy. The greatest moment of comedy came when they took the mick out of the live performances of people like 50 Cent, with Phonte rapping "I hate you bitch, gonna bust a cap in your ass", while Pooh and some other dude stood behind him with towels over there head, shouting yeah, yeah throughout his rap. That had everyone in creases. They completly ripped it live, highlights were Speed, The Getup, a track over the "Threat" beat, and Big Pooh's "Big Pooh is like" freestyle over the "Nas Is Like" beat.
After the show they invited everyone up on stage to take pictures and have stuff signed. Unfortunately I had a train to catch real quick so I wasn't able to take up the invitation, but I still though it was great to see a hiphop group willing to do something like that. Overall a great night.
Here are some pics another guy at the show took:
