favorite extended metaphor song?
« on: April 23, 2004, 01:33:42 AM »
I have a few favorites:

Royce Da 5'9'' - My Friend
Luniz - Girl (Feat. Crooked I)
Tech N9ne - Worst Enemy
2pac - Me and my Girlfriend
Cormega - American Beauty
G-Unit - My Buddy (Just kidding)

can't think of any more good ones. Nas's "I gave you power" is dope, but the beat is just too repetitive.

Common's 'I Used To Love H.E.R', off his Resurrection album.

For those who don't know, he talks about hip-hop like a girl he grew up with. Great track off an under-appreciated album.

Sticky Fingaz's "Money Talks" is great, along with the aftermentioned "I Gave You Power".

Another one: Royce Da 5'9" - "Pain"

CalebOhio: I think i can speak for many others when i say my favorite rap artists are white but i still want black artists to be dope. they are chosing not to be. that wouldn't be a likely believe held in a white supremacist group. I want Nas to deliver evertime but he doesn't every time Sage does. so Sage gets my $15 regardless or his status. fuck your status perception and labels you use.

damn good shit. I heard all of them except the Royce- Pain track.. gonna look 4 that. Another one just came into my head - Snoop Dogg - Luv U (blueberry), really dope kickback song, except for the chorus, which is annoying

Girlfriend = gun.

Not a great one - Pac makes it too obvious, if you know what I mean. Not that he explicitly says it, but most of it's just not clever enough in the way Common's track is.

Never really listened to it in much depth.
