Get On Da Mic video game
« on: May 11, 2004, 10:24:19 AM »
When Eidos announced that it was working with Highway1 Productions on a new "third person urban action game with an online component," this wasn't quite what we were expecting. But "urban action" could apply to a lot of concepts, and one of them is Get On Da Mic, a new hip-hop music video game for "major video game systems." It's due out this fall, to be followed by a dance title, Get On Da Floor, next spring.
Both games are in the works at French developer Artificial Mind and Movement (A2M for short), makers of Scooby-Doo: Mystery Mayhem and the PlayStation classic Jersey Devil.
Get On Da Mic will feature more than 40 licensed music tracks, but what it will do with them remains a little fuzzy. Eidos promises that the musical aspects of the game (performing for the crowd, or simply showing off in a non-linear freestyle mode) will be mixed with adventure elements (as players rise from minor club gigs to fame, fortune, and record deals with shadily-connected producers), but the nuts and bolts of the game experience have yet to be revealed.
