Nima - Dubcnn.com

Ok first, ya'll remember that MTV article about 213 right? Where Warren G said that he didn't produce any songs on the album "because he wanted to concentrate more on his rhymes" right?
Right, well straight out of Warren's mouth, he said he NEVER said that! "That's bullshit, did you ever hear me say that? Or Snoop? Bullshit."

So apparently MTV go head and take quotes from the artists representatives, PR-managers, and put together articles. So when from now on when we read some shit in articles, don't always believe it! Warren said he has no clue why he don't have any songs on there, Snoop didn't talk to him about it.

Also, something else is, I saw that thread about the Bad Azz Executive Decisionz album covers where everbody was saying the covers are wack (Yes, i agree, they're HORRIBLE!). Ok well the situation with Bad Azz is fucked up right now, the label (D3/Navarre) isn't taking to him, he doesn't know the status on his album. It was suposed to drop in Novemeber, then December, then January, then March, then April, then May, then June 1st, and now it's July 20th, and by the looks of it they're fucking him over. Bad doesn't even know about the releases dates, he said he read it on dubcnn, and THEN has to call label to see what's going on and find out it's true.
And about the covers, when he signed with them, he gave the label a CD with 150 pictures to use, and the results you see on the album covers is the horrible work of the labels designers. Bad Azz hasn't even seen none of those covers! He don't even know what his own album cover that's being advertised looks like!
Also, the single we heard on the radio "What I'm Spillin'" wasn't Bad's choice neither, and now they pressed "Round N Round" on vinyl, hey he didn't know about that neither!

So this is how crazy this shit is with the labels.

Let me see if I can find some more examples... Oh yeah, Spice 1.

Ya'll know Spice 1 & MC Eiht are releasing their duo album, called "The Pioneers". Well anybody with a little knowledge knows their duo track "Tha Murda Show" and was hoping for the album to be callled "Tha Murda Show", and that's what both Spice and Eiht wanted it to be called too.. Well the dude who made the album cover didn't know, and just named it that, and now the covers are pressed, and Spice pissed off, lol.
I mean I know it's Spice and Eihts fault too for not taking care of it, but still it's just weird, cause for many people this album is one of the most anticipated, and when the title is chosen by some designer, you know there's something wrong!!!

yea but graphic designers have no say in anything...they do what they are told...so whoever is the shot caller of tha label that is putting this project out is the one to blame....they gave em photos to use in a ol skool western themed cover....which means they are just pasted on some background which looks weak as fuc to me....

It's fucked up, I KNEW Warren G didn't say that "concentrate on my rhymes" shit..
It would be funny to ask Snoop about why Warren G doesn't produce on the new album..

LOL @ the new Bad Azz cover..
Give ANYBODY the OG of that pic and 15 min in Photoshop, and it will look 100 times more professional that this;

Trauma-san

I don't believe that MTV shit.  I think Warren G was just off his fuckin dome when he said that shit and doesn't remember what the fuck happened.  I mean, I don't doubt that MTV would make shit up, or print what a publicist says or whatever as what the artist says, but I'm not gonna let Warren G or Snoop or whoever off the hook because they say they didn't say it, I've seen ALL these fucks say 1 thing and then say something totally different in the next interview, they switch their story like clothes.

Ice Cube: "Hey Dre, Gimme Some Beats, Please, I'm ready to do this whenever you want" (Live on T.V.)

Dr. Dre: "I handed Cube a tape with 5 beats on it and told him to write somethin for them 8 months ago"

Ice Cube: "Dr. Dre's in my new Movie, Next Friday.  Yeah, Dre's the neighborhood Drug Dealer"

Never happened.

etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. I mean Warren and Snoop can say they're taken out of context, but shit.  I've seen ALL of them claim shit tons of times that never happened, so they've all got a history of being some bullshitters.

the industry is fucked up and artists tend to blame everything on a label, but its two-fold. Any respected PR person at a label can not and will not say anything about an artist without getting permission from that artist. When it comes to finalizing the album cover, inserts, promo items, promo dates, etc. The artist always has the last word, unless the label deems something offensive. Da Lench Mob's first album was originally called "Pin The Tail On The Honkey", well of course that was too much for the label to bare the brunt of complaints and the album wouldn't be sold in retail chain stores, so it was changed to Guerrillas in tha mist. And they censored all references to homosexuals on the album. But that's what they had to do in able to get the record out.
So the label/industry is shady but if you've been in the business at least a year or two and you take time out to research, ask questions, and take charge, the label has no choice but to listen and compromise.
BTW the Bad Azz cover is terrible, but I've seen worse even from my own crew. Usually when shit looks like that, it's some very last minute "we got to have a cover in 10 minutes" type of thing, so maybe that's why BA, cover looks like that or perhaps the art director is garbage.

BUT THE ARTIST IS JUST AS RESPONSIBLE AS THE LABEL, YOU LET A LABEL PIMP YOU, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE A HOE. HAVE A STRONG TEAM WITH YOU. TOMMY BOY TRIED TO PUNK OUT NAUGHTY BY NATURE AND TREACH REALLYGOT GANGSTA ON THEM AND DID SOME THUGGED OUT SHIT AT THE LABEL IN THE PRESIDENT'S OFFICE, ONE OF THE FUNNIEST SHIT I'VE HEVER HEARD, BUT NBN NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS FROM THE LABEL AFTER THAT.

These were some very interesting notes, Nima. The MTV one is really fucked up if it's true. But on the other hand artists have to be carefully what they say, because there are so many dudes that spread the word in the streets, and finally some MTV writers or whoever post it on the site, and the whole world knows about it, even if the artist said it in another context, was just joking, or whatever. But rumours spread very fast, and everybody knows that, so artists have to whatch out what they say, if they don't want to read it in the news the other day. Probably Warren really said it, but was just clowning or whatever and wasn't expecting it to be on a website the next day.
