The Day After Tomorrow...
« on: May 29, 2004, 12:59:45 AM »
well it opened today...just got back from seeing it...its amazing how a movie with such work put into it ended up being not thought out even close to as much as it should. i wanna start off by saying i did thoroughly enjoy this movie. but what i meant by saying it needed to be thought out better was this: the entire movie is about a storm...its about a storm that will throw the earth into another ice age...but yet in the midst of this storm there are people on cell phones, radios, and television  ::), then...the part that really made me laugh...this dude (dennis quaid) wants to get in his car and drive to new york after everything has frozen over! yes he can drive over the top of the snow...yes its a big truck so he can get over all the bodies on the snow...but did he ever think about this..............where in the hell is he gonna get gas?

other than those few little tidbits i really did enjoy the movie...the effects were amazing. it is atleast worth seeing.

I'm goin to see this in a few hours and I hope its as good as I think its gonna be.

I've read some positive, negative, and mixed reviews about this movie.  I just hope the "disaster" sequences are plentiful, because I could give a shit less about the characters...I wanna see tornados, floods, and another ice age damnit!

This movie was very good IMO.  I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, although I agree the ending was a lil querky.  One minute in Mexico, theres a huge blizzard goin on...then its all sunny and shit at the end.

My official rating: 8.5/10

lmao the blizzard wasnt in mexico...the blizzard was in the top half of north america...that would be why they were trying to evacuate everyone into mexico or atleast below that line he drew on the map.

I wasn't talking about the main storm.  If you woulda paid attention to the movie you would have seen "U.S. Refugee Camp in Mexico"...it was nighttime and it was snowing like crazy.

Oh, and another thing...the "blizzard" wasn't just in the top half of north america either.  The storm completely covered north america, however:

SPOLIERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Upper North America is the only part that gets frozen over into the new ice age because the eye of the storm (where the toposphere or w/e came down and froze everything) was concentrated in Northern North America.
