Well...with all the drama going on with the NBA, particularly the Lakers....and with the increasing want for realism in video games....am I the only one who wouldn't be interested in a professional basketball game that was a REALITY video game, meaning all the good bad and ugly? Now I am 95% sure that the NBA wouldn't allow their liscense to be used for it, but I wouldn't mind playing a game that has the gameplay of NBA Live, but has fantasy players and all, and really incorporates the real life things that real NBA teams must deal with. It would have to have a Mature rating, but it would combine our favorite elements of NBA Live/ESPN, NBA Ballers, Playmakers (from ESPN) The Sims, and even a hint of Grand Theft Auto or something.
Such as...
-Taking chances on players who are great atheletes, but aren't that smart and always end up gettin caught doing stupid things such as drugs, assault cases, etc
-An Ego rating, which would prevent certain great players to get along and play on the same team. And a team full of average/good players that all have low egos would beat a team with 4 stars with high egos
-Players demand trades for whatever reasons, and when they play their former team, there is drama and the game is dramatic, and possibly even has fights in it
-Have it where players will want to go to certain cities over others, whether for their hometown, their college, or if its just a good city (Like L.A.!)
I could keep goin on and on with ideas, but would any of you all buy a game that was like that?

there was a sports game for XBOX called Deathrow....while not nearly as advanced as your ideas, it did have deals that could be made pertaining to the purchasing of drugs....you'd use one of your athletes as a guinea pig and sometimes it gave him a boost in his stats, other times it would make him a drugged out piece of shit

those are some interesting ideas for a game but unfortunatly, sports titles with out the liscense rarely sell good (except for mario golf and shit like that)

That's true, sports games with no liscense usually don't sell, but that's because they are usually worst than the liscensed games, plus they follow the same structure. This game wouldn't appeal to straight up NBA Fans, and kids shouldn't play it, but if they marketed it right it would definitely sell to people who like sports games but like the type of things that Playmakers and sports movies touch upon. NBA Ballers was trying to do a bit of that, but the gameplay was so repetitive and played out that it got boring. I donno, it would be a gamble, but if it succeeded, it would be a completely groundbreaking game. Especially being that it was controversial, if the gameplay and fun factor lived up to all the controversy and maybe even "bad press" that it would get, I am sure it would be a hit. And if done well enough, they wouldn't have to release it every year, especially being that it would have made up players.

man that's a really good game idea, it would probably be set up as a sports/action rpg..that sounds like the best genres for it...i would get it because i like new games, even more so when they combine two type of games and it works good

sorry to go off topic but this reminds me of this "contest" i saw on a website... this website (i forgot which one, could have been gamespot) was asking people to send in full, fleshed out video game ideas....characters, story lines, gameplay discriptions and everything... if your game was chosen, they'd give you $100....the downfall of course is you lose your rights to some scum bag that would then shop your idea around to the companies....it was the second or third time this contest was done so i guess they found some suckers before

yeah that would be good but this thing looked more like a scam tahn an actual contest....it was held by the editors of this website, the money came from his own pocket and it really wasn't advertized too much on the website
