First, he's not stupid, he's 3. Second, you can clean them sometimes. Take windex, and clean all the actual dirt off of the bottom of it. As for the scratches, use a good carnuba car wax on the bottom of the CD... the kind that's liquid and comes in a bottle, not paste or anything like that, you'll scratch the shit out of it. You're trying to polish it. when they get scratched, usually it doesn't actually destroy any of the data, it just makes the laser in the X-box skip when it hits the jagged scratch. If you polish the bottom of it with wax, the laser will glide right over the scratch and will still play. It won't work if it's really really badly scratched, though.
if you had a modchip you'd be able to burn another copy from your backup!
