Islam teaches it's followers to attend funerals. A Muslim must visit the graveyard so that he may remember (thikr) that this life is short, and that one day we will all have to leave whatever we are doing and enter the grave. Everything we have gained and can hope to achieve will ultimately be put to an end, at an hour only Allah the Master of the Day of Judgement can know. Nobody knows when their time will come, a Muslim (one who submits to the will of the creator) knows that he can die at any moment. The prophet (saws) compared this life in the same way that one would describe a stop at the gas station when traveling long distance. You get out, stretch, use the restroom, buy a few things, clean your car window, make a little conversation, then leave. That is what this life is like. Life is very short, we must reflect on this.
it seems to me that you think and talk about death more than you do life...therefore i suggest you embrace life while you still have it i.e. go and get one

You visit the cemetary to remind yourself how short and insignificant the life of this world is so that you are reminded to make the most of your time on this earth. Also, I must add, the part about going to funerals, I was talking about Islamic funerals, which are different than the all day affairs at Christian funerals. Iin Islam, we just burry the body right away at the nearest Islamic cemetary to where the individual passed away, and then we make a group prayer, followed by an individual supplication to Allah, asking him to forgive the person who has passed on.
