Hatton May Leave Warren
« on: July 12, 2004, 04:48:56 AM »
WBU light-welterweight champion Ricky Hatton has threatened to leave promoter Frank Warren if he does not set up a title fight against WBA light-welterweight champion Vivian Harris.
Hatton has become increasingly frustrated at having to face sub-standard opposition, having now defended his lightly-regarded WBU crown 13 times.

The 25-year-old Mancunian looked to have made a significant breakthrough at world level when easily outpointing respected veteran Ben Tackie last December.

However, this year Hatton has had to be content with two low-key match-ups against unknown Dane Dennis Pederson and fully exposed Argentinian Carlos Wilfredo Vilches.

The fact that Hatton put in a lacklustre display against the latter only heightened calls for him to be stepped up in class before complacency costs him more dearly.

"I am mandatory challenger to face Vivian Harris and if I don't get him next, then I will have to seriously consider where I am going with my career and I will think about going it alone, " Hatton told the Daily Express

"I seem to have been sitting in the ring apron for the last few years now and hearing the same old story, that this is going to be my year.

"I cannot keep waiting. Frank Warren and I have a great relationship and he has done brilliantly with my career, but he knows he has to deliver for me because the situation cannot continue.

"I am fed up sitting in front of the box and watching Miguel Cotto, Arturo Gatti and Sharmba Mitchell. All of them are saying Hatton never leaves his living room and right now they are right."

Hope he does go alone Or even sign 4 Arum or King

SHit, he need a big fight......God knows hes a dope fighter.  Scrapper for life.

I just hope when he has his big fight he don't get beat and do a "Shea Neary" and just fade away from boxing...I always thought he was dope.

I wanna see Nas back and I wanna see Tyson in the ring again.

Hey Donnelly one of my old school pals in with Warren I think.  Hes like an Olympic champ or some shit, Tony Quigly.  He's suppose to be a dope boxer.  I use to hang with him a bit in high school....aint seen him for a while though...but hes suppose to be coming up.
