CalebOhio: I think i can speak for many others when i say my favorite rap artists are white but i still want black artists to be dope. they are chosing not to be. that wouldn't be a likely believe held in a white supremacist group. I want Nas to deliver evertime but he doesn't every time Sage does. so Sage gets my $15 regardless or his status. fuck your status perception and labels you use.

Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

Right, I'm going to have to think on the other categories that I've missed, but here are the one's that I am (more or less) sure about. This list could still go through a few edits, however :)

Flow - W.C. (Something about the way Dub raps always grabs my attention. He's got a flow that's all of his own. With a few others here, early Snoop was a close contender but I can't excuse his later flow)
Mic Presence - Ice Cube (although I wouldn't limit Cube's presence on the mic to a certain time. His presence may not be as felt as it once was, but even on Westside Connection's ''Bow Down'' in '96 he proved he was still a force behind the microphone)
Word Play - Ras Kass (was also a contender for punch lines, but I gave that to...)
Punch Lines - Guru of Gang Starr (This may seem like an unusual choice, but if you check Gang Starr's back catalogue you'll know what I'm talking about. Guru has got plenty of lines!)
Lyrically - Eminem (People say he fell off but I disagree. ''The Eminem Show'' displayed a maturity in his lyrics and, whilst his recent guest appearances and his verses on ''D12 World'' were undeniably dissapointing I remain confident that he'll silence a lot of doubters with his next LP)

I have to mention that there were a lot of runners up for the ''Lyrically'' category, including the likes of Pharoahe, Mos Def and Kweli. Matter of fact, pretty much anyone who was formerly a member of Rawkus Records was a contender there! 8)

I'll add the other two after later. List subject to change!
"Shit ain't all peaches and cream, and I ain't Sara Lee, bitch!" - Lloyd Banks

"I'm Morpheus in this Hip-Hop Matrix, exposing fake shit." - Common

"With consecutive platinum hits, I up my status. Ain't no more Calvin Broadus!" - Snoop

"Look at all these conscious rappers - guess who influenced them?" - KRS One
