1936 Inge Sorensen of Denmark earned a bronze medal in the 200-medal breaststroke at the age of 12, making her the youngest medalist ever in an individual event

1904 One of the most remarkable performances was that of American gymnast George Eyser, who won six medals even though his left leg was made of wood

1904 Canada won Gold in Soccer (BIATCH! )

1948 Karoly Takacs was a member of the Hungarian world champion pistol shooting team in 1938 when a grenade shattered his right hand - his pistol hand. Takacs taught himself to shoot with his left hand and, 10 years later, he won an Olympic gold medal in the rapid-fire pistol event.

1948 Germany and Japan were not invited to take part in the games and while Russia was invited, but declined.

1908 Back at the stadium, Italian Dorando Pietri was stumbling to the finish line. But the heat was getting to him as well, as he fell five times while trying to finish the race. When American John Hayes appeared in the stadium, it appeared he would take the gold over the disoriented Pietri. Chief marathon official Jack Andrew, not wanting to see an American cross the line first, bolted from the stands and dragged the Italian runner across the line. 1972 The Games opened with the backdrop of peace but all of that changed 10 days into the competition. On the morning of September 5, eight Palestinian terrorists, representing the militant group "Black September", broke into the Olympic Village and killed two members of the Israeli team while taking another nine hostage. In an attempt to end the crisis through force, all nine Israeli hostages were killed as were five of the terrorists and one policeman. The Olympics were suspended and a memorial service was held but IOC President Avery Brundage said "The Games must go on !" and the competition resumed after 34 hours.

1976 Twenty African nations decided to boycott the Olympics in protest of New Zealand's national rugby team touring South Africa which robbed the track and field competition of some of its best competitors. (HAHAHHAHAHAHHA)

I hate the Olympics because serious sports like Basketball, Soccer and other Ball-Sports combine like 6 gold-medals lol, while bullshit "sports" like swimming, judo etc combine like 200+ gold-medals.
