Butterfly Effect
« on: August 26, 2004, 06:52:19 PM »
Aight, first off, this movie is terrific. 2nd off, if you dont know it go ahead and find your way to see it :)

Butterfly Effect (genius title bye the way) has got it all. It's somewhat shocking, in certain scenes. Or should I say disturbing? Im not sure.
A friend of mine was reminded of Momento seeing it, but it's no way like that, I still get why he thought of Momento. It starts almost at the end, for instance.  But then goes way back immediately.

In general, the philosophy of the movie is about how a single day, single action, single fuckin' phrase can change your future and future of them ppl around you COMPLETELY.

What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

bout time you saw it.

Yeah i agree this movie is awesome. I was surprisingly shocked at how much i enjoyed this movie. Its cool how he changed just one part of his life, and suddenly his entire future is completly opposite.

Yeah it's a rip off of an old book called "Metonomy" Basically I guy discovers time travel, goes back to prehistoric ages.  He is careful not to disturb anything, so he doesn't alter the future.  Well he ends up stepping on a butterfly (hence the title of the movie) before he travels back to the future, and the entire world is completely different.

I saw the movie, and while its a great concept its the acting was corny as fuck. I laughed my ass off when ashton kutcher woke up with no arms.

This movie looked so incredibly, horrifically gay, that I could'nt bear to spend any money to see it.  Add to that the unnecessary child pornography in the plot line, and there really was nothing appealing there for me.

I don't really have any desire to see a movie that has a plot based around child pornography, like I said.  I think that's frivelous, and unnecessary, and it's an obvious attempt at shock that contrasts with what I generally recognize as creativity.  They think they're being creative, but really they're just being crass.

i thought this was a good movie, i usually hate Ashton Kutcher but he did a good job in this...and the child pornography thing is a small part of this film...i wouldn't say it was entirely based on that, although the consequences of certain aspects are explored in parts of the film...

Trauma I agree that child-pornography is a taboo and obviously shocking, but on the other hand it's a taboo yet not many movies dealt with but which is certainly a thing that can change a person for fuckin' life. Ppl should *not suppress the fact that those things DO happen. They should rather get their asses off and do something against it.

And Rampant.. I saw it on the day it came out in Europe (Ger) :D
I know I can download movies too but sometimes I prefer the cinema.. even tho I gotta pay.

Cool movie. But after seeing it two times I would already be sick of it :P.
It's quite creative, but it started me thinking (yeah, thinking, coo right :P),  and the movie-idea has some mistakes in it... Well find out yourself!

Tsjaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
