New computer... best browser?
« on: September 02, 2004, 12:39:23 PM »
I get my new computer on Saturday and I'm working out how to get online with it. What do you guys think the best browser is? At the moment I'm using Netscape after a virus fucked my IE some months ago. I've got no issues with Netscape, but everyone seems to be talking about Firefox - what can people tell me about it? My main priority is to get something secure - I use a PC-cillin anyway, but all the talk about IE's security issues makes me wary of anything. Any guidance would be cool.

Cheers y'all :)

the best is what you want it to be.

I saw the Microsoft news story the other day but missed your original thread Jome. Looks dope, and I like the idea of those tabs - guess I'll be downloading Firefox this weekend. From what you know, how is it for security? Cheers man.

I think they have found 1 security glitch in Firefox, but they came out with a new version correcting the bug within 2 days..
IE probably had more than 100 different crucial bugs, some times months go by before they correct it..

I guess that's why Microsofts security boss uses Firefox..  ;D

microsofts bugs are alot more severe though.

Ad-ware easily gets through IE, and installed on your computer.

Malcious scripts can easily be ran through ie, that can damage your computer.

Because IE is built into windows, its alot more vulnerable.

common sense compels me to mention that more people use IE therefore there are more hackers trying to fuck up IE. just like how bank robbers dream of robbing big banks and not banks in a town of 50 people

Fo sho.
Just like noone cares about hacking Apple/Mac's, they always go for the big audience.
Another advantage of being small..
