Album Im listenin' to alot lately
« on: November 16, 2004, 01:44:28 PM »

Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth - Mecca & The Soul Brother

I bought The Main Ingredient about 4 months ago which was my first time listening to these two and I loved it, thought it was a really dope album.. In The House, I Got a Love, I get Physical, The Main Ingredient we're being played alot.  But yeah anyways.. picked up 'Mecca & The Soul Brother' and its super dope, like it just as much as The Main Ingredient, a bit more maybe. Im really really digging Can't Front on Me, T.R.O.Y., On and On, and a couple others. These guys are my 2nd or 3rd duo after Gangstarr, LOTS of talent here.

so yeah, just thought I'd share that and encourage people who havn't checked them out or bought this, to go do so...

Yeah, good show man, classic album right there, Pete on top form on the beats and the interludes between tracks, and CL drops some hot shit on this album. Definitely my favourite of their albums.

Good album, both of their albums are great. So is Pete Rock's Soul Survivor.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

Isn't the other one just an EP? I've looked for it but came up empty handed.

Yeah its an EP "All Souled Out", got the Creator on there, and all the tracks are tight, definitely pick it up if you see it anywhere.
