if blacks brought music fro mafrica, i guess whites are responsible for the lyrics then, with songs from all the european cultures and poetry written by european writers. unless of course the africans had a way to write clicks down in some form or fashion.

I don't care what encyclopedia Britanicca says, I don't give white people credit for inventing basketball. Around the time James Naismith was alive slavery was still in practice, so you really think that a country that accepts slavery and reduces blacks to 3/5's a human being is really going to give them credit for inventing anything?
Besides, basketball had always been around in some form or another, James Naismith and company just had the resources to put basketball into the national spotlight. If a few slaves got together, or recently freed slaves got together and started throwing balls into a peach basket, you really think they would of had the resources and oppurtunity to develop that idea into a national pastime?

Well.. if you look in an American Encyclopedia it will tell you that James Naismith, of the University of Kansas invented basketball. And you still missed my point. Sure, it could have been invented in Canada, or Estonia, I don't know where it was invented, but my point is, that had African American's invented it out on the cotton fields they still would have lacked the resources to put it into the national spotlight and recieve recognition. So if an African American invented something like basketball before Naismith, who would have known? How would they have gotten the recognition?

The one thing I don't get though is how did Naismith steal the game from the enslaved blacks when he was only 5 when slavery ended? Nevermind, he must've visted the US south as a toddler during the civil war and saw them playing basket ball in the cotton fields.
