The feds finally charged someone with murder in their long-running probe of rap label Murder Inc.
A pair of associates of crack kingpin Kenneth (Supreme) McGriff are facing murder and racketeering charges in the fatal shooting of aspiring rapper E. Money Bags in Queens in 2001.

McGriff, who is suspected of bankrolling the label with drug cash, allegedly ordered the slaying, knowledgeable sources told the Daily News.

The suspects, Dennis (Divine) Crosby and his girlfriend, Nicole Brown, who were indicted last week, are eligible for the death penalty for carrying out the hit, a Brooklyn federal prosecutor said at their court appearance yesterday.

Sources said Brown secretly videotaped the victim before he was gunned down. The tape was found during a search of a McGriff stash house in Baltimore.

McGriff is not named in the indictment. But investigators believe he was behind at least seven killings, including that of E. Money Bags, whose real name was Eric Smith.

Smith was marked for death in retaliation for allegedly killing an associate of McGriff, sources said.

"Every criminal act in Queens County is linked to him," scoffed McGriff's lawyer, Robert Simels.

In the past week, the feds also have charged Murder Inc. bookkeeper Cynthia Brent and rapper Ja Rule's manager, Ronald (Gutta) Robinson, in connection with the four-year investigation. They are accused of laundering more than $1 million in drug proceeds.

Another source close to the case said Brent and Robinson are under pressure by the feds to rat out Murder Inc. mogul Irving (Irv Gotti) Lorenzo.

Informants have told investigators that McGriff delivered crack proceeds "to individuals working for Murder Inc." in order to launder the cash, according to court papers.
