He was a key component a huge sociological change in America, and he didn't intend for it to happen or want anything to do with it. It was that hippie revoltion, and it all started with him and his lyrics. I don't think a single man's music changed America and the world as much as this guys did in the 60s. This isn't me as a Dylan fan speaking this is me as a realist speaking. I'm not trying to over promote the guy, but his contributions aren't debatable. Even though he didn't purposely make them.

Agreed, Dylan's music always comes off humble & unpretentious, yet so powerful.

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

He's alright.  Personally I don't get into him much probably because he DOES get so much credit, and doesn't want it.  It's like the cool thing to do is to ramble on about how great Dylan is.  I do like much of his stuff, though, but I'm not a die hard fan or anything.

i like a bunch of his songs, but that fuckin harmonica is very annoying in some songs he just BLOWS like crazy and its this Long annoying high pitched sound for like 10 sec.. and I'm bewildered as to what the fuck is going on... Ive been wanting to get that off my chest or a while but was too lazy to make a thread

The harmonica never bothered me. I guess it's an aquired listen. What specific songs are you referring to?


and Baby G: can you imagine if 60 minutes did a whole piece on the guy from making the band? That would be the second worst thing ever. The worst thing would be me calling him a social revolutionary. lol. You should check 60 minutes out though and find out more about this guy. He's very interesting.

I saw it. It was pretty good. They did the best they could to sum up his career in 20 minutes. Anyone that found it interesting can now look more into his career and anyone that didn't only wasted 20 minutes.
