is it because we juss have way more cutthroat muthafucaz out here or what? that's all I can think of....we juss so different and take shit so seriously....over time, I've learned how to chill more and stay laid back about situations and different issues, but it seems the people that I grew up with are juss gettin more ruthless about shit and losing all kinds of hope....so it's like society is juss gettin worse and worse.... in that bowling for columbine dvd, it was showin how every country in Europe etc has like 100/200/300 murders by a gun per year etc, then when it came to U.S.A it was like 12,000 or some shit, it was incredible. And U can't blame it on guns, I bet U we have em available to us juss as much as they do. This shit came to my mind cuzz 1 of my boys is real fucked up rite now over his best friend gettin killed tha other day, I kno how it feels, my best friend at 14 died also, but thing is this year San Francisco is suppose 2 be hitting murder records with like over 80 gang-related murder rate so far. shed some light on it........

Yeah, I think you're right about people just taking things too seriously. I mean, Canadians and Americans are pretty similar but we're very laid back up here in comparison, and you can see that with gun related murders.

it also has to do with the fact that we have very strict gun laws and i would not say they are as easily avaliable here as they are in america where u can buy them in walmart, americans have a thing a about guns and thats gonna be a way to release your anger in a moment of fury if you had stricter laws less people would have guns thus gun crime will go down, if your police can't control the underground thats another matter.

the reason really is that we dont have people walking around with guns.. they're illegal apart from for hunting.

if i wanted a gun right now this second.. even with 1000s of pounds on me i have **no idea** where to get one... you cant just walk in somewhere and buy one!

no one over here is allowed to own a handgun, or keep shotguns in their home unless they have a licence for sporting use, and u cant buy one without a licence.

of course criminals are getting guns.. but its much harder.



so the only commonly available ones are 12 bores and rifles from hunting and fishing places.

i've never seen a real handgun.. i've used a high powered rifle and shotgun only because my boss lives in the country and we shot at targets and clay pigeons on his old estate land.

pretty simple really... people dont have guns. death by guns goes down.

I think its more of a cultural problem than a problem of gun control.  The U.S. has a significant gap between rich and poor, and we are a rather stratified society. 

I blame a lot of the problem on racism.  Actual its more a result of our racist past than our racist present.  Gangs are a product of segregation.  You take away someone's ability to achieve, and they find other forms of accomplishment.  Tupac actually talked a lot about this in his rhymes.   
People join gangs because they are looking for some form of regcognition. 

Also while we are the wealthiest society, we are not the happiest society, and I would assume there is a relationship between violence and Gross National Happiness.  But in this case, I'm really just giving a personal opinion.  I'm not extremely knowledgeable on this subject.

you can put a graph on the internet which is 12 years out of date i may add before even tighter rules came into play but it doesn't nessarily mean you get the whole picture of from that graph. those were bad years near the end lots of people lost loads of money in the value of their home in many cases they ended up owing more than they were worth, there was recession and there was the poll tax which caused roits.

by the way overseer the current laws are if you own shot guns n shit you have to keep them at a club or hidden away in a cage which the police come and inspect before you can get the liscense to hold it on your property.

but thats not to say we don't have a gun problem as there are obviously people who gets guns illegally, but most ordinary people have a very hard time getting hold of one its not like they are on display in shops.

When it comes to healthcare, it is widely known that our country takes a interventionist approach, rather than a preventative one.... and in my opinion, it is doing the same with guns. If our government really wanted to, it could keep guns/drugs out of the "ghettos".
