Damn...''Weapon of Mass Destruction'' by Xzibit flopped HARD...
« on: December 22, 2004, 12:51:35 PM »
Just checked out the news on MTV.com: they've reported in their weekly 'Billboard' sales round-up that Xzibit will debut at number 43 on the charts! That's WAY lower than I was expecting...

I dunno how great his promotion was over in the USA (here in the UK I'm pretty sure that X is known solely for ''Pimp My Ride'') but I don't think that all of the confusion with the release date will have helped matters. X is going to need his second single to make a huge impact or else this is looking to be a failure of 213 proportions...

Still, I don't care how bad promotion or the debut single was - the guy is featured on MTV all the time. He hosted the EMA's! Guess that just doesn't translate into good sales figures... :-\

you know what his first single sucked really bad though...he has been pretty consistant throughout his career with singles, "Multiply" was his only really commercial single but was dope and brought in good sales figures (he debuted at #3 i believe with MVM), the video sucks really bad too, i mean he needed to really step his game all the way up because cats were waiting to hate because of him hosting Pimp My Ride and all...Damn "Hey Now" isnt even a good west coast track...Fuck it hell sell i think Lil' Jon had a wack debut too, and he bounced back to top 10 the next week sooo...

I'm surprised how well "What you see is what you get" did, cuz he didn't really have a lot of promo for that.  He had a lot of promo for this album, and it doesn't seem to be doing as well.  Weird.

LMAO

Now I'm gonna bump LAX and go one with my day. Fuck the bangwagon fans just 'cause he was with Dre and Snoop. My man laid out his best album since 40 Dayz and 40 Nightz, I said it, it's better than Restless, I am making a lot of bold statements in the past few days. But still, it's his first true album that he was in control of, without the influence of Dr. Dre, so for this effort I think he deserves tons of credit. Too bad the rest didn't see this album as that, and just wrote him off. Hopefully he can bounce back with a good second single. We'll see.

I still haven't gotten around to buying it, I think I'll cruise over to tower during my break and buy it. This really is a good album. The single "Mean Muggin Hey Now" is godawful. Not only should he not have released that as a single, he shouldn't have even put the song on the album. I think people might get the whole idea about the album based on that song. That was a mistake on his part. That was the same mistake Kurupt made when he released the horrilble "It's Over Now" as the first single from Space Boogie, if you guys recall.

^^i just dont feel it at all, i dont really even like "saturday night" theres not too much rhyming going on there by X, it's more Jellroll featuring Xzibit...i liked "drop it like it's hot" it was different with the same appeal..."hey now'' was too different too soon, the hook is really what is awful though! its really the problem with some of the album, "Judgement Day" should of kept the same sample Krondon used for it it's the exact same of the chorus on X's version instead it sounds too forced to be Gospel and shyt....it's a dope album none the less...just weak hooks Mamie Gunn and Jellyroll got weak hooks IMO

normal people of course do, but SGV has underground-syndrome and hates it when rappers he likes are successful because then he has to pretend to hate them and make up arguments why they suck so hard and stuff.

Exactly..and too me it wouldnt have been the same quality shit if Dre was involved. Not sayin Dre fell off but I just think it keeps it fresh with Khalil,Jelly Roll etc. Not havin the usual suspects doin appearences (aftermath/shady,Snoop,Nate) is even better. With Phil,Mitchy and Krondon you dont need extra shit from other folks. Just my two cents but if yall havent heard it you missin out on some good shit.

the second single is Saturday Night live with krondon & jellyroll. video should premiere soon, see how the mainstream likes that 1 & if it's pushed on mtv/radio more than hey now.
