So.... We're baaa--ack... What happened?

hurrah!.. finally got this shit sorted!... wanna know what went wrong?


OK.. so our old host announced they were stopping their hosting business.. gave us lots of notice etc etc.. and said they'd transfer sites to a new host... which they recommended, or another one if people wished.  Wanting the easy life (tm) I agreed for them to move us to this new recommended host... however.. after just 1 day of us being on the new host I woke up to find the site disabled... and a message saying we were using too much CPU time on their server.

no we weren't using too much diskspace, or too much bandwidth. just that their servers aren't capable of handing us. XSCINC moved along with me.. and the Crooked I forum and the others he hosts are on this host right now.

The night dubcc moved i was doing things with dubcc (I tried to optimise the SQL database) and it had slowed up the server... so much we also couldnt access the Crooked I forum... so i can see dubcc was impacting their performance.

Basically they werent very helpful and stated we had outgrown 'a normal hosting environment'.. first i got them to open the site again but on the condition the forum is in maintenance mode (that silly message ya'll been staring at for the last week).. just so i could read my f'kin emails... after talking to them a bit found they're unwilling to budge.. or make any helpful suggestions.

Anyways you may have noticed when i originally announced we were moving an offer was made for hosting from Big June (aka Junior).. who had already helped us out recently with the media hosting for dubcnn (dubcnm.com)  but as you can see I had already set the ball in motion for moving to this other host. so i backtracked and holla'd at Big June and sorted out things with him

NOTE..

the server has now moved back about 3 time zones.. so if in your profile you had the adjustment set to 5 hours (like i did) you'll need to add another 3 (to make it .. to make the forum times right.


ALSO....

While we were offline the final 'gold' release version of the forum software we use was released. So I've just upgraded us to that as well.
