Resident Evil 4 Impressions

I decided totake a little break from Mercenaries and put some time in with Resident Evil 4. Now i find it harder to go back to Mercenaries, this game is THAT good. It almost doesn't feel like you're playing a game. The graphics are the best I've seen on a console...better than Halo 2, or Metroid Prime 2 hands down. the controls are fluid and responsive... The Quick Time Events (parts in the story you have to quickly press buttons to escape, dodge, etc....) are well used and placed greatly thoughout the game

The only thing i can say bad about this game is the villagers skins are used over a little too many times. They'll gang up on you in groups of 2-7 and it's not uncommon to see triplets or quadruplets in the crowd...not a big deal....then a little more into the game, the creature creation takes a little bad turn...I find the true enemy in the game to be creative but silly looking so far.

Music is great. The soundtrack fits perfectly, from the fast melodies to tell you you're in trouble to the soft strange music that accompanies the merchant in the game.

I have no problem with the controls or gameplay what so ever. Everything is perfect, if you die, it's pretty much your fault and there are quite a few ways to prevent your death when you continue....you just have to look for them

Ammo is found in abundance...and you'll need it, so far i've never had the fear of running out of bullets that everyone has probably felt in the other RE's...the fear comes from how many people are chasing aftter you and how many shots they take... sometimes a single blow to the face with cause their head to explode, othertimes 6-7 shots barely keeps them down. Healt on the other hand is found juuuust enough to get you by and give you some comfort knowing you have a few healing items left.

AI is great. the mobs of people will split up and try to kill you, and they have no regard for their lives or the lives of their fellow people, quite a few times you'll see them off each other or even off themselves in the pursuit of your death

and lastly, the boss battles are CRAZY! some of the most creative boss battles i've seen in a game. they rank up there amongst the battles from the metroid prime series and legend of zelda series

so far this game is very deserving of it's 9.8 rating

you're on crack and your opinion on this subject doesn't hold any weight... what? you like wrose graphics? or maybe garbage controls? the terrible voice acting was better now that the new one has good voice acting

the only thing that's really missing from the new RE is zombies and running around looking for puzzle pieces for 2 hours

anyways

resident evil fans should like this controller....for $50.00 USD from www.residentevilcontroller.com

... they just need to keep it GC exclusive.. so many companies stopped developing games for GC for whatever reason so GC needs to come back... I own a GC... for the obvious reasons Zelda and MEtroid.. It will be that way with the next home console by Nintendo and maybe even the DS... I couldn´t imagine not owning a nintendo home console and not playing Zelda or Metroid.. those games alone demand a GC in every household...

That control looks so bulky and hard to use. It would be nice to display though.

This game shits on the old ones; it's amazing. It's one of those games where you don't even notice how much time passes and you get sucked into it so easily.

Anyway, how far are you? I'm about 1/3 through the castle, and it's getting more interesting too.

Haha that kinda sucks but oh well. I've watched mostly all of them and I'm still a little confused with whats going on. I've got the general idea but weird shit keeps coming out of nowhere, I can't even explain it or it's relevence to the story.

sounds so much like Shenmue when it first came out, that game was beautiful

im glad RE4 looks so good its showing how much better Gamecube can be in the graphics department than the PS2 although the Xbox has the strongest processor there isnt much that challenges it ya know?
