Author Topic: Is The Twinz 'Conversation' better than Warren G's Regulate? Let me ellaborate..  (Read 994 times)

Nima - Dubcnn.com

Well I never even asked myself this question until this morning, to me Regulate was in my top10 of all time, etc. This mornin on the way to work (im at work now), i was bumpin conversation..

basically to me, the production is pretty much equal, if not doper on Conversation. Warren G was at his prime on both.

And lyrics are by far better than Regulate.

One thing that Regulate has on Conversation is the title song, which is the standout track. Conversation doesn't really have one timeless song like that, huge song that everybody knows.

But other than that, the beats on Conversation are nuts, and Soopafly gave them a banger too.

They both have the same artists on it, 5 Footaz Twinz Warren G & Dove Shack. Only warren's has nate too.

I've bumped Regulate more, but im tending to say as an album Conversation is doper!

what ya'll think?

Warren G "Regulate... G Funk Era"

This album to me is on par with Doggystyle and The Chronic. When that Warren G CD came out it was my ERA for real. We used to listen to this while getting kicked out of class, I still remember to this day buying that CD in the old record store in Exeter that was just up from GAP and just down from Virgin Megastore... Seer' do you remember that shop? was it Solo Records? I baught it and just had to shoot home to listen to it right away! Got so addicted that I went to the Warren G/Twinz/5 Footaz/Adina Howard/Whitehead Brothers concert in Hammersmich Apollo London and had to oppurtunity to met Neb Luv and Jah Skillz, and stay in touch with them.

Anyway Warren G "Regulate... G Funk Era" can never be beaten to me and I expect anyone from the Old School . . .

But I agree with you that the TWINZ CD was perfect G Funk.

Yep, I agree with you that TWINZ album is damn near perfect, and a G Funk classic.

Hey Nima, thats one thing we agree on, considering our music tastes are very different lol...

I like "Conversation" better IMO.

The Production was about the same or better on "Conversation" and lyrics were alot better then "Regulate". But the thing missing from "Conversation" is a standout track like 'Regulate' but overall its still a better album.

I gotta say "Regulate", without a doubt.

And don't get me wrong, I LOVE "Conversation". To me that's a classic, a perfect ten, 5 mic album...call it what you like. It's no doubt that the Twinz are/were lyrically above Warren and their flow is great, to say the least. But, there's something about "Regulate"... something that got me hearing it in my head when I less expect it. It's got a certain magic "Conversation" lacks.

It's got that rushed feel. Listen to Warren's rhymes... half of them seem freestyled (or written in 5 minutes). But that's the beauty of it. It's spontaneous, it's got that authentic feel to it. Something like the Wu-tang first album... which sounded intentionally rough, much like a demo or something. And their next albums, with a more polished and sometimes doper sound, can't compare, ain't got that 'magic'.

So what's more to like in "Regulate" than in "Conversation"? I could not answer that. Not in words. But "Regulate" sets me in a laid back mood, puts a smile on my face, takes me back to the old days...

And it's not because of the title track ( I gotta confess I outplayed that and I often skip it...shame on me). But what feeling you get when you hear the beat to "And ya don't stop"? What about "Supa soul sis"? "This DJ", "So many ways", "What's next"... all of them.

Maybe that's cause I (we) grew up listening to "Regulate" and I'm more emotionally attached to that. Maybe that's cause "Regulate" feels more like a family album, cause Warren shares the mic a lot and "Conversation" is 80% Twinz. I don't know.

Let me bump my G Funk Era once again...

I'll sum it up in three words. "No Fucking Way". Thank you.
