What happens to the 2nd single of West Coast albums?
« on: January 23, 2005, 08:35:40 AM »
Boo Yaa TRIBE: "Bang On" was their 1st single (and it was banned from MTV a few weeks after being released.) They never released a 2nd one...

213: Whatever happened to Joysticc being the 2nd single? Were the label execs afraid that Snoop would get too much exposure before the release of his own solo album, 'cause it could "overkill" him in the media?

(There's another West Coast album which didn't get a 2nd single, but I can't think of it right now..)

Good question. WSC went gold with just one single. They definitely should've followed up on that.

I thought they had Gangsta Nation and then as a follow up Lights Out?

^^^^No, Lights Out came before Terrorist Threats (it was the single for Mack 10's Ghetto, Gutter & Gangsta...remember?).
Yeah, the WSC album was the one I had in mind: "You Gotta Have Heart, "Get Ignit", could've been tight singles...it's a shame.

Other examples: Knoc, Yukmouth, etc...

X's ''Weapons of Mass Destruction''. Haven't heard anything on the status of ''Saturday Night Live'' as the 2nd single in a while...beginning to doubt that it will ever emerge. :-\
"Shit ain't all peaches and cream, and I ain't Sara Lee, bitch!" - Lloyd Banks

"I'm Morpheus in this Hip-Hop Matrix, exposing fake shit." - Common

"With consecutive platinum hits, I up my status. Ain't no more Calvin Broadus!" - Snoop

"Look at all these conscious rappers - guess who influenced them?" - KRS One

Didn't know that...but what's the use of a single when you don't have a video for it...it's all about visualisation. The fans want to see the artist...

Judgement Day
Cold World
Scent Of A Woman

^^^^Some songs from WOMD with "hit-single potential"...

but what's the use of a single when you don't have a video for it

it will get airplay, hopefully :P

in the states more promo singles are being released to radio stations than in europe and you also find less cd singles in record stores than in europe.

we as fans need to demand the singles...call your radio station....make internet petitions....write letters.....holler at the video shows....
maybe we have more impact then we think?  we gotta take it further than just bitching on a forum....but I feel you though...
