oh gosh here it goes. a lot of big albums dont get rated. "THe 7 Day Theory" wasnt rated till they did that make-up ratings issue. and besided, the source only rates the album if the label sends them a copy.

Baby G is right - a magazine is written weeks before the cover month. To get a review of an album at the time the album hits shelves, it's the label's responsibility to get a copy to them in advance.  Any later and the album is out, so it's not worth the both - it's no longer news.

After the King Tee fiasco I'd expect Dre, Aftermath and Interscope to be wary of getting a Source review by advancing a copy, regardless of how much credibility the magazine has lost.

what a bullshit thread
the source covered the documentary in the november issue, they had their album in one of the most anticipated album for 2005 or something and they did a article on him
also it's not like a mag is the reason an album sells
if you're independant or not on a big label,it's good promoton but if you're are on interscope,u don't need it...especially since xxl turned into aftermath newsletter

I don't like the Source but XXL isn't much better, they don't even cover west coast rap period and they always give westcoast artists low ratings.

the source has been slippin every since xxl been on the scene. the whole interscope vs. the source rivalry is as unprofessional as it can get.
I cant really fuck with any magazine that puts more emphasis on the fashion then on the art of hip hop itself.
I feel like a crackhead when I buy the source...I really dont wanna do it but Ive been doing it for so long that if I dont do it I feel like Im missing out .... Ive been programmed by these bastards...I remember with  fondness when they used to break huge stories like pac being free and dre leaving deathrow... and seeing a young daz and kurupt on the cover. smh.....
