Doggystyle, no doubt.

Besides the RBX features I barely listen to the Chronic anymore. The beats did not have that much lasting value for me.

Easy, The Chronic. Where as you say the second side of the Chronic is boring, remember that the second side is straight Gangsta Rap, with Funk samples, not like Doggystyle which is Funk with a Gangsta Rap twist. The Chronic laid the blueprint for a great album, and in Dr. Dre's way, he experimented with many sounds, and tried to put together a classic album. Doggystyle basically took whatever made The Chronic sell 3 million copied then, and made it to a whole CD. It's not like The Chronic, where you can tell the difference, Doggystyle songs where what people craved after The Chronic, and Dr. Dre delievering, which was more G-Funk beats, and Snoop's smooth flow over it and the Immates in the background. But The Chronic to me, 'cause it had a wider range of sound.

My opinion hasn't changed. Songs on the Chronic that were popular, Dre Day, Nuthin' But A G Thang, Lil' Ghetto Boys, Let Me Ride, those song were the foundation of the Death Row sound. But other songs on there were true Gangsta Rap songs and they went HARD. I think Doggystyle now has a dated sound. When this thread was made, people wanted that old G-Funk sound. But now Doggystyle sounds dated and "so 90's." But the Chronic may have some songs that sound of that era, those songs along with the rest of the album hold up very well. The Chronic can be put next to many other classic Hip-Hop albums and shine.
