« on: February 05, 2005, 09:08:39 AM »
Yea, so i listened to murs' album "3:16 the 9th edition" before, but it was only yesterday that i LISTENED to it.. its such a dope album, production is just amazing, his lyrics are great too, i love how his topic matter is all around.. i can relate to a lot of stuff, but bothered me

btw i know there was a thread on this, but o well

Now you could be down, but let's act growed up
Cause we ain't the same color when police show up
::) .. what a hipocritical statement.. he should be the 1 to grow up, i live in a 80% white area, cops dont give a fuck if u white or black, your getting arrested if you break the law,.. cops dont let white poeple go, black poeple, get over it, your not being opressed any more...

What's the reason that my album doesn't sell like his?
And don't front like you don't why the hell that is
It's because he's white, you can relate to his face
Through the years you've been taught that Black is unsafe
Plus it's only natural for your own to be embraced
Conscious or subconscious you can't say that ain't the case
Only reason it took so long to take place
Was up until now your only choice was 3rd Bass
Or others like Ice, wasn't really that tight
Now you got some white dudes who can truly rock the mic
You relate to their stories cause you share that past
Question is, why would you listen to MURS' Black ass?

why does he make such a big deal abou the differences between whites and black, WE ARE NOT THAT DIFFERENT, its just a skin color... like i relate to most of his songs.. like some, exactly what he said is some shit im going through..

just my thoughts, btw, any other dope murs shit i should get?

Murs 3:16 The 9th Edition is great but I heard one of his other albums and it sure as hell wasn't.
He's borderline nerd rap as far as I'm concerned and he comes off as a white guy trapped in a black guy's body.  That's why I thought that song is pretty stupid.

no, because he's dissin' whites.
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

what is nerd rap, as far as im conerned its like rapping about atoms, and space and shit.. on this album, he just rapped about life. he was like kweli, just less ego and punchlines, and not as good a flow...what was "nerd" about the album.. no?

Man I do the same music, they stop coming to shows
It's like they scared of the white boys in the front row
First I was like "so?" I'mma get my dough
But the numbers kept falling as my fan base would grow
And now I'm concerned so I gotta speak up
First the money was the only thing shutting me up
But now I don't care, don't support me, get mad
Why wouldn't you abort me, my own people have
I feel I should have the scans white rappers have
It's sad but that's the way it is
What's the reason that my album doesn't sell like his?

I asked myself for a while but now I finally get it
Good music transcends all physical limits

It's more than something that you hear, it's something that you feel
When the author and experience and passion is real
Used to feel I should be silent, I was scared to do this song
But I want everyone aware of what is going on
Yes it is jazz and yes it is the blues
And yes it is the exact same way they did rock
But I refuse to watch the same thing happen to hip-hop
I refuse to watch that bullshit...

why does he make such a big deal abou the differences between whites and black, WE ARE NOT THAT DIFFERENT, its just a skin color...

IMO, the way i interpreted it, he does realize that with that line

End Of Beginning is a OK album IMO, but this cd outshines all of those, And his flows hes dropping on the new Living Legends  :o !!! seriously gonna be heat....hes coming out with a new cd with 9th wonder, called Mur's Revenge, Sometime this year.....But For The Latest Murs, You should wait for the new Living Legends CD "Classic"

LOL. Murs is my blood cousin so I gotta defend him.

For one, NO WAY he is dissin white people. He is speakin 100% truth, even if you don't agree with his opinion. I understand that white people definitely won't feel this way, and if I was white I might feel like he was "dissin" me but I know that he's definitely not racist at all, but he's just speaking how he feels about things. I'm black, and it's NO WAY IN HELL you could say blacks and whites are not that different. We are different in 100s of ways if you generalize us both or look at our history. There is no better or worst ethnicity, but I realize that we are definitely different, and it's nothin wrong with that.

As far as him bein a white guy trapped in a black guys body, that's ignorant as hell. Makes no sense to me...maybe because he can speak correct english? Maybe because he doesn't gangbang? Maybe because he doesn't portray the stereotypical image that most people seem to think black people are "supposed" to act or talk like because of how we are portrayed in rap music and through the media? I'm a 20 year old educated black man, and I'm pretty damm sure I'll kill anybody in an arguement about what "black" is supposed to be and what it really is.

That album is pure flames, Mus and 9th did thier thing.  Murs just kept it real on a real life level, everybody in Cali aint gang-bangin but it dont mean that they wont bring it to you, The Nigga spoke on some real life shit and situations.
