Don't got much time but someone just told me that a few "new" Rakim tracks recently leaked, including a dre produced one. I haven't heard them but I know that After U Die is an old recording Dre and Ra did a few years ago during the original "Oh My God" sessions. If I remember right its a pretty deep track about what happens to us after we die and is a pretty good example of the direction Dre and Ra wanted to go with the album, lyric and topic wise. Unfortunately, Interscope didn't see big sales in deep lyrics about death and the afterlife and other intellectual and philosophical topics like that.
Sorry if some of you thought it was brand new, but at least it might be a good sign of Rakim finally deciding to get some music out there in front of people to get his name back in people's mouths and minds. Let's hope this is an indication that he is finally really serious about getting an album out there. Peace Y'all.

"after u die".. and a few days earlier another one called "welcome to the hood" (which wasnt as good)

had assumed they were leftovers right off since he mentions dre in "after u die"

also..

i commented elsewhere.. but i find it strange that _both_ have surfaced through mixtape DJs over the weekend.

sounds like something may be coming?

Thanks for clearing that up man. It's a dope track but it's kinda sad hearing it; listening to it made me feel like I'd expected to when I heard Dre and Ra together, but I'd always expected to be getting that feeling when I had the official CD on blast rather than a track ripped off the net...

i'm hoping ra's trying to get some hype to either get a publisher, or if he's got one to help it sell when they drop the news or something...

unless some kinda demo cd has leaked.. in which case we'll have the whole thing soon.. like we have with hittman about 3 times so far..

First I got to say to whoever finds my post offensive, it isn`t intended that way by me. It`s my personal opinion on aftermath/interscope.
If interscope got Aftermath by the balls (which seems to be the case), why don`t Dre just buy himself out of his contract with interscope or something? I mean, the latest Dre produced track`s I`ve heard ( all of the dre beats on encore etc ) are fucking shit. I can`t believe a guy that produced doggystyle and the chronic would be capable of making such bubble gum music. And it seems to me that much of this is to blame on Jimmy I. What`s even more upsetting is that Dre releases this shit. You always talk about the guy having a good ear for music. Well, I find that hard to believe when I listen to "just loose it", lol.

Thanks for the information. You can tell that the track is from the "2001"/"Oh My God" era... but I wasnt feelin the song that much...Ra's flow was sick though

I just heard both songs "After u die" and "welcome to the hood". After hearing the beat for "welcome to the hood" you can hear that electric guitar. It reminds me of the use of the guitar in "G'd up". Every time I've listened to G'd up I always thought a grimmier/sicker rapper would have sounded better over it. After hearing "welcome to the hood", I wish rakim would have been the one rhyming over the "G'd up" beat. "After u die" is a very philosophical song, I could see why Interscope would think the MTV kids wouldn't vote for it on TRL......peace
