Kurupt's "Space Boogie - Smoke Oddessey" was overlooked!
« on: February 17, 2005, 02:39:09 AM »
I would just like to drag some attention on an album that that dropped a couple of years ago by Kurupt and was abit overlooked!
"Space Boogie - Smoke Oddessey" is with "Tha Sreet Iz A Mutha" his best albums released!
"Space Boogie" got everything you want from a solid westcoast album. Dope producers, almost every beat is good, Kuruptīs flow is often on some extraordinary shit although his rhymes can be abit monotonous. Featurings on this album include a whole bunch of the D.P.G.Cīs like Snoop Dogg, Daz, Soopafly, Lil' HD and Nate Dogg. Other featurings are Dj Quik, Xzibit and MC Ren just to name a few. Even if you would get tired of Kurupt's voice there's plenty other rappers to make that up.. Fred Wreck drops some of his best work to date on this album too! "On Onsite", "The Hardest Muuuhfuckaz" and "Space Boogie" are heaters!! Its an album that you can listen from start to end without having to skip any track! Pop this CD in your stereo if you haven't listened to it for awhile or buy/download it if you haven't heard this banger!!

Too many filler tracks in my opinion. His rhymes were pretty much wack which prevents me from listening to some of the tracks no matter how dope the beat was.

Production was top notch, guests were dope, Kurupt had his moments, but his flow/rhymes lacked at times.

On, Onsite is by far my fav song... That song is like an anthem.. Everytime we go play bbal that song is on repeat.

Hittman is not a real person. He was a computer program generated by Dr. Dre and Mel Man back in the mid 90's. When Dre started treating Mel-Man like shit, Mel infiltrated the computer and put a virus in the hittman program

Good record, but there are some skippable songs on there. Definitely more good tracks than bad. Kurupt was hit or miss, though. His verse on "Hate On Me" is by far one of his worst ever. Sounded like he just freestyled it or something.

The unreleased version of "Can't Go Wrong" is much better than the one on the album. I wonder why they changed it.

It's one of my favorite records I own. What I don't get though, is why the 2 of best tracks Kurupt recorded for Space Boogie didn't make it to the album: Odd Squad and This Life I Lead.

"It's Over", "Sunshine", "Lay It On Back", "Just Dohn't Give A...", and "Kuruption" should have all been left off.  They don't fit the album.  The album is too inconsistent.  But there are some dope songs on it.

"Sunshine" is dope. Kurupt was sub par on there, but it's still the jam. Jon B should produce for westcoast artists more often, he's one hell of a producer.

Sunshine is just too fruity to me.  It sounds like it's a kids song.
