Am I the only one thinking that Smith got overrated overall because he wore that Dominique jersey? Skill-wise, Amare's through-the-legs-slam-behind-the-back-dunk was waaaay tougher than eveything Smith did.

yeah....I also thought it was lame to do that.

What i think messed amare over was the fact that he didnt get those dunks in the 2nd round on his first attempt. To me you've screwed yourself over if you dont make it your first try, because you now know what they're going to do and it takes away from the awe.

Like if that white boy would have had a spectacular dunk, but it took him 9 tries.....its not as spectacular.

The number of dunks that can be done are limited...until the players can hang in the air for three seconds or take off from the three point line, you won't see much new stuff.  The only new dunk was when J.R. Smith (I think) went behind his back in the air.

Cot damm, I think people like Carter just made it impossible to impress people anymore.

I don't care what anybody says, this year's dunk contest was almost great, and most dunks didn't get enough props.

Look at Josh Smith's dunk that was about a foot or less inside the free throw line. He didn't quite jump as far as Jordan, but u see how he cocked his arm back? That is HARD AS HELL to do, because even Jordan and Dr J just did a lil pump, but to cock it back while jumpin that far? Then the dunk he did jumpin over Kenyon. He jumped about a foot and a half inside the free throw line, but then had to catch the ball, then had to make sure his body cleared kenyon, then cocked the ball back, then added leg motion to it. That shit was amazing, period!!! JR Smith's dunk behind the back was tite as hell, but he messed up the first time and its on NBA Live so it didn't catch us off guard as much so it didn't seem as tite. Amare's dunks were sweet as hell, even tho Steve Nash had the hard part to me.

And damn, is it me, or is it obvious that these players have been playin NBA Live too much?

All I got to say is Smith is the next Dominique, great dunker but wouldn't get far in the playoffs. Oh well... it was fun

I think that shit about everybody has done all the dunks possible already is stupid.  Every fucking year somebody comes up with at least one new dunk. Jason  Richardson had something special everytime he was in it.  The sideline, from his right hand to left under the legs and dunked it backwards on a two feet jump was new at the time.  Last year he threw it off the backboard caught it low while his head was above the rim under his legs dunked it to the right of the rim while his head was going under the rim.   He also TRIED a 360 under the legs.  a 180 elbow dunk.  I mean obviously nothing is original because everythig is a variation of a dunk anyway but the variations is what is new.  Each year i see a new variation, thats pretty fucking exciting.  The thing about Vince carter was that he did new variations and they were all done perfectly. but every damn year people say  its all been done before and somebody comes up with a new one or shit even two.  Its BS, any athletic dunker with creativity can comeup with something new one
