If I recall correctly, Noreaga said he wouldn't rhyme with Canibus anymore because when they where in the studio Canibus brought a dictionary and thesaurus so he could write his verse.

I do, net-MC's who Google their material holds as much weight as bringing a dictionary to the studio.
Using a thesaurus confirms this, why would you need a book to make your verses rhyme.. ??

Canibuas
- Always sucked lyrically
- Is one of those "too complex for you" kind of rappers
- Has a shitty voice
- Has a shitty flow
- Couldn't write a meaningful verse if his life would depend on it
- Is fucking overrated

Rakim
- Hasn't progressed since "Don't Sweat The Technique"
- Has a very dated and generic style
- Is boring as a pile of shit now
- Has nothing to really rap about (same can be said about Canibus)
- Is almost as overrated as Canibus

Rakim takes it for being an influencial and interesting figure in the development of rap music. But he didn't progress since he disbanded Eric B. So there are plenty of better rappers around today.

I guess people didn't read the first post.  He didn't ask who is the better MC or who should have a high spot on the "best ever" list, he asked who more lyrical.  Voice, influence, etc. have nothing to do with that.


With that said Rakim is more lyrical.  Rakim has a huge vocabulary and uses it right, Canibus throws around those big words alot and doesn't even use them right or just uses them for the sake of it.  Here's an example of bullshit:

It's legibly unimaginable, mathematically incalculable
Inextricably infalible
Let's not forget utterly impossible or
Morally unsermountable to assume that I could lose if I battled you

Canibus IS a heavyweight lyrically but he's just not cutting it as a complete MC.  It's not really a stupid question to compare these two lyrically

It's a book of synonyms, and synonyms is words rappers use when they want to use another word that means the same, either to make it sound like he's educated/smart, or TO MAKE ANOTHER WORD/LINE RHYME WITH THE WORD YOU WANT TO USE.
That way, you can make almost anything rhyme, as long as there's a couple of synonyms for the word, it's just a shame that synonyms doesn't always fit the point/sentence you want to express, and must be used with caution, as any English teacher will tell you.
