Dre's final beats on Death Row...
« on: March 29, 2005, 11:23:39 AM »
were they the tracks he did for All Eyez On Me, or did something pop up after that release, like a soundtrack or something? I always believed that the 'Cali Love Remix' and 'Cant C Me' tracks were his last official contributions as a Death Row artist...

you're probably right on that belief, but I have to wonder if Been There, Done That & Blunt Time weren't already made (beat-wise) while he was at Death Row...

Yeah, some beats on the Aftermath CD were probably recorded around the same time or just after he got out of DR. The 2 Dre records that did make it on All Eyez On Me are 2 of his best productions, imo. I think of them as the last real G-Funk Dre beats till he developed his new "2001" sound, ya'll agree?

I heard Blunt Time was..  along with that beat Ras Kass had for Ghetto Fabulous (yes i know budha produced it.. but its rumoured it was originally Dre song called Ghetto Tango)

We've been over this before... can you imagine a Chronic II - Papa's Got A Brand New Funk>album with songs of the calibre of..

California Love
Can't C Me
Natural Born Killaz
Keep Their Heads Ringin
Blunt Time
Ghetto Tango...

Dre was still on the ball.. King Tee's song Str8 gone from the Aftermath comp was dope.  lsome of the stuff shortly after on The Firm project, e..g Phone Tap, that track he did for Nas's album was dope.. that unreleased firm project leftoever gem Everyday Thing.. and the input he had on King Tee's album (cant forget the input BattleCat and Quik had on there though!)

What was Suge thinking?!

Dre would have remained, or perhaps regained #1 spot at the Row, and Suge wouldnt have got as many royalities.

Truth is the Row focus's on one project at a time.. all the best shit goes into whats current -not matter what- Dre wanted to keep back stuff for himself which caused conflict.. other artists probably wanted to do this too..

Damn, if Dre released a Chronic follow up in '95-96, that would've been killer. At least we got a taste of what was expected, like Overseer said.

Chronic II would of been more like

1.Dre day 2 (addressin DOC)
2.Gimme Fifty Feet (feat Ice Cube)
3.California Love OG
4.Blunt Time OG
5.Zoom OG
6.Ghetto Tango

Not sure of more trax those r the only ones i know that were meant to be on there
Hittman is not a real person. He was a computer program generated by Dr. Dre and Mel Man back in the mid 90's. When Dre started treating Mel-Man like shit, Mel infiltrated the computer and put a virus in the hittman program
