Offshoot from my other Kweli thread

In the other topic, it seemed the general concencus was that Kweli's flow and lyrics were suffering because of his beat selection on his last album and recent tracks. So, in an ideal world, who would you like to see produce on Kweli's next album, to give him more subtle backdrops, and allow him to express himself through rhyme as he used to?

For me I'd be happy if his entire next album was produced solely by Jay Dilla and Kev Brown, because I feel that they can give him the jazzy, laid back, yet still hard (mainly through the drums) beats that he needs in order to drop a classic album.

What about the rest of you?

Reflection Eternal/Black Star era Hi-Tek yes, but he don't make beats like that anymore, which is where the problem lies, so Kweli needs someone to fill in the void he has left. Kanye maybe, but I still don't think that would as dope as a Dilla/Kev Brown produced Kweli album.

I'd say, half album by Hi-Tek, then throw in some Quik and Kanye. Those three I think he's more confortable with.

Kweli goes great with Quik, Jay Dee, DJ Scratch and Kanye. It would be awesome if he worked with RZA and Large Professor.

Jay Dee, Kev Brown, Madlib, Large Pro, maybe a beat or two by Good ole Primo or Pete Rock. That could turn out to be some awesome shit

That would be awesome, especially if you caught them all on a jazzy tip, to give some continuity. Hopefully this is the sort of production lineup Kweli will go for next time round. And definitely no Neptunes.

I agree with most of what's been suggested here, but I would throw in some DJ Khalil beats. Kweli sounded dope on ''Shame'' and ''For the City'' over those Khalil instrumentals. Babu also laced him nicely on ''Raise The Bar'' - although his beats are sort of hit-and-miss IMO. That said, what he did for ''The LJ's'' record was fire.
"Shit ain't all peaches and cream, and I ain't Sara Lee, bitch!" - Lloyd Banks

"I'm Morpheus in this Hip-Hop Matrix, exposing fake shit." - Common

"With consecutive platinum hits, I up my status. Ain't no more Calvin Broadus!" - Snoop

"Look at all these conscious rappers - guess who influenced them?" - KRS One

so noone felt that Brken Glass track?  Kweli is a good story teller and I think Neptunes could lace him up for another "Children's Story" type track but thats jus my opinion
