I think it's snoops best album lyrically, but the mixing on that album SUCKED. Some songs you could barely hear what snoops vocals, I think that's where he missed dre the most, snoop always sounds hungry on dre beats, and the beat never overpowers him, like it does sometimes on doggfather. My other problem with doggfather is that it's the first time i found out snoop would use other writers for some of his shit. Blueberry was written by bad azz and kurupt, it tarnished his image in my eyes. But i still like the album, 2nd best IMO
"Tha Doggfather" I think is the one of the best albums from the West ever. There is hardly a wack track on that CD. A lot of people hate on it but I think it might be right with "Doggystyle" and if not it's definitely his 2nd best album. The production is flawless and it's real laid back. DJ Pooh and Daz produced most of it and the guests include Kurupt, Daz, Too $hort, Soopafly, Bad Azz, Technique, Nate Dogg, Warren G, and Tray Deee. Legendary shit for real, 1996.1. Doggfather (produced by Daz) *best Daz beat ever*2. Up Jump tha Boogie f/Kurupt (produced by DJ Pooh)3. Sixx Minutes (produced by DJ Pooh)4. Snoop's Upside Ya Head (produced by DJ Pooh)5. Gold Rush f/ LBC Crew (produced by Arkim and Flair)*6. 2001 (produced by DJ Pooh)
