The only reason why gangsta rap is boring is because of all these old artists.They keep on getting worse wit every album they release.Its time for new artists to step up,but as long as everyone is gonna be anticipatin a gangsta rap album from a 40 plus sth year old dude,its always gonna be this way.Its time for a new generation of rap artists,& Im not talking bout gangsta rap but hip hop in general.

naw rappers like celly cel, c-bo, yukmouth, ice cube and more are still spitting fire with everything they breathe on.  everyone is tripping about these "old rappers" messing up the game how about it can be time for some of these new cats (blackstreet gang, bishop, balance, crooked i) to stop making good songs and make some great commerical songs.

im sorry but when i hear music from ice cube or celly cel from 2005 it is damn good and they havnt fell off that much.

^^^theres my point in a way homie, i agree that spice 1, kurupt, ice cube, etc music isnt as good as it used to be but in my opinion its still better quality then most other rappers in the game.  i love crooked i, like bishop, young hoggs, balance, dieggoredd, and some young rappers but some of the og's at 35 still make bangers that these young cats dont, this is just how i feel

The thing is, it's on the young cats to really put their foot in and just take the shit over. Before, from 87 - 97 or so, there were a new group of cats that came in and really dropped some hot shit every couple of years or so. It's really on the young cats more than anything. I think we're starting to see some of that now. Also, alot of the old dudes still drop heat.

yeah new rap totally sucks.  There really isn't much music from the last 5 years that I have really played on a consistent basis.  In fact a good 80% of albums never get more than 2 listens, some only one listen, and some don't even get a full listen.

and people always talking about these new artists and next generation of rappers.  but thats pretty much all there is is talk.  ain't nobody droppin albums.  I really liked Dirty Birdy's first mixtape, and I'm sure his album is dope.  XL middleton dropped a hot album (which practically this whole forum slept on).  and also the rap industry is so damn saturated with wack shit nowadays.  everybody and their brother say they are a rapper and got a rap label.

I think soon I will stop checking out any new rap.  Unless something drastic happens here on the west coast I'm just gonna have lost interest.  I'll always bump the old shit, but I won't care about the new stuff.  I will just start gettin more into old school funk.

Truthfully what it seems like to me iz, I don't listen to "Artists" really...I listen to "Songs".  Its seems that certain "Artists" have more potential to make good "Songs" but for the most part the majority of music out there right now is garbage.

It's lyke, good artists lyke Kurupt, Daz, Snoop and all them juss go in circles talkin dat bullshit "fuck haters im so coo", and when fans (FANS!) tell them "look, get back to your old style, stop babling bout worthless bullshit" they juss reply "fuck all u niggaz lalalal*bullshit*".

i think the way to "Bring the west back" isnt thru more gansta rappers like Game etc. That shit is tired and killed. We need to re-invent rap music, the same way the South did with the club shit. We need to make a new genre of hip hop. The reason people don't buy westcoast is cuz they've already heard the shit before, it all sounds recycled and boring to anyone outside the gangbang westcoast culture.
Crooked I - i'm personally not feeling him as much anymore. He used to be completely ill, but his new shit sounds like your everyday gansta rap artist. The lyricism is watered down and the flow is simplified, i say fuck that. I'm not even anticipating him anymore, it's been too long. Same goes for almost every other westcoast artist that's about to drop, you know you're not gonna hear anything new, just the same old shit, possibly worse than the previous album.
