M.O.P. leaves Dame Dash
Wednesday - May 4, 2005
Verbal Walker
M.O.P. expected great things when they landed on Roc-A-Fella records back in 2002. As days turned to months and months turned to years, one had to wonder if M.O.P. would ever put out an album. Even when the Roc split up it seemed that with M.O.P. rolling with Dame Dash Music Group that they would finally see the light of day.

Well 3 years since they initially made that move and now M.O.P. has made a clean break from all that had a grasp on them. The duo issued a statement speaking of the separation that they felt put them in a home that they didn’t belong in.

The reported statement even seemed apologetic for the group signing to the Roc in the first place. Even though they kept a healthy buzz and made many fans wait for an album from the Mash Out Posse, that day never materialized or even came close. The group is reportedly looking to strike a new deal.

there is hope

They need to sign to Deathrow.............. ;D

Then they can wait another 3 years for an album to come out, but seriously they would suit Tha Row.
These is dedicated to the niggaz down from day one!!!

^^ Not without selling out. I wouldn't stand Mop with g-unit all over their album fuckin it up. Because the MOP has that grimmy style that make them special. They would just go soft and make songs about clubs and hoes. They not club, they are streets.

siamak's sig took my attention...

thats fucked up but 3 years is long for an album release. but after Jay-Z left it was obvious that the whole Roc would crumble.

There was already a topic about this. They did a song with LFO of everyone in the biz, and they still kept it grimey. It was still street shit. I don't like G-Unit, but they have a gangsta image, and M.O.P. has been in the game for a while with the same style they started with.

funny thing is if Ja Rule or Nelly did a song with LFO they would get called all kind of bitches & sellouts

There's a difference between doing a duet, and rapping.
That's why Ja Rule got laughed at for singing along with J.Lo, and Styles & Jada got props for dropping decent verses on "Jenny from the block".

This might sound like a stupid question, and it's something I've been wondering for a while, but how do these artists survive when they're on a label for so long without putting an album out or whatever? Do they get weekly/monthly wage from the company or something?
