actually I read that The DOC came to dre with the original of that song, and asked dre to sample it.  Dre couldn't do it cuz there was no part to sample, so they had to replay the song.

Whoa...damn homie. On a brighter note, I got this information from an old issue of XXL...DOC leads us through his favorite tracks from "No One Can Do It Better"...

"It's Funky Enough"

That came out in May of 1989, when the album hit. I had to beg Dre to make the music that way. The track it's based on, "Misdemeanor" ( by Foster Sylvers ), had no room to loop it where it was just instrumental. I asked Dre a couple of times and he kept saying, "there's no room." After the third time he gave in and we replayed the music live. On certain verses I had a Jamaican flow because I had been drinking that day and when I heard the track in the booth it sounded kind of Jamaican to me.

"Let The Bass Go"

That was one of the first tracks I ever made. I did that track and "Whirlwind Pyramid" in early 1987 in Eazy-E's mama's garage. It ended up on the album untouched, even two or three years later.

"Beautiful But Deadly"

That song wasn't about a woman, it was about cocaine. Nobody knew that, and I didn't either, really, because I started doing that shit later on.

"The D.O.C. & The Doctor"

That was my Run impression. He was my hero coming up. If you listen to "Together Forever" ( by Run-DMC ) it's damn near the same thing.

"The Formula"

One night Dre came back home and said, "I had a daydream that you wrote a song called 'The Formula' to Marvin Gaye's 'Inner City Blues.'" I wrote that song that night and we recorded it the next day. It's my favorite track on the record. I've always felt a connection to Marvin Gaye, somehow.

"The Grand Finale"

I wrote Eazy's rhymes on that, of course. That's the last time we all rapped together, right before Ice Cube left ( N.W.A ). Dre didn't rap on there, except to direct the rhymes.
