A while back I was wondering the same. The answer to the question:

D.O.C. once used to have a nice voice, back in 1989, until he had a car crash (he was driving under influence) that totally ruined his throat and his voice by that. D.O.C. from then on has been writing much for other artists, but his voice was just too fucked up to be rapping anymore. He has tried with albums like Helter Skelter, but that was a disgrace for anyone who remembered D.O.C. from "No one can do it better". I think he became addicted to coke around that time, been screwing up his life etc... And in the mean time he's still been writing for people like Dr. Dre on "2001". Dropped a dope compilation album "Deuce" in 2003.

I guess that pretty much sums it up. There's not really much going on with D.O.C. because his voice isn't capable of rapping (remember the difference between "It's Funky Enough" and "The $20 Sack Pyramid"?).

he used to be on 97.9 all the time every tuesday night, him and 6-2(main rapper on Deuce album) but stopped doing it like a year ago, he still around though, You can find him or 6-2 rolllin around downtown Dallas alot, he be at Club Blue alot too

I promised a rare DOC track.  Dre doesn't know if its ever been released.  It probably was a long time ago since there was a video for the original track (made, along with the beautiful but deadly video the same day that DOC crashed his car).  Its Dre's remix of the formula.  Its called The Formula FM mix.  In my humble opinion the original is one of the greatest rap songs ever, and the remix is just as good, it's more extended and even more musical with a longer intro, poppier snares and a xylophone solo.  I tried to put it on yousendit.  Like I told y'all I might not be real good with uploading so hopefully it works.  there are two ways to try it.  If it doesn't work let me know and i'll try something else.  Peace.

since i know which way works i will upload two other D.O.C. remixes by Dre that you may or may not have heard. 

The first is The D.O.C. and the Doctor (Noizy Mix). this track I believe was released as a single (dre said they did a crazy untouchables/scarface type video for it early in the nwa heyday. Dre added some gritty guitar to the remix of this other rap classic.

the other track is Dre's only stab at techno/house music. it's his remix to Portrait of A Masterpeice.  Dre said he has done some great reggae flavored beats but he still needs some work on the techno thing.  Anyway, some of you might enjoy it. It fits pretty good with the speed of doc's rap on the track. It's not Dre's greatest but at least he tried.
