Phil Jackson is the coach of the Lakers again. A year after he wasn't offered a contract to stay with the team, the Zenmaster returns to L.A., where he won three of his nine championships as a head coach.

There's no doubt in my mind that the Lakers would be the best situation for Phil Jackson. He knows this team, and they already have the precepts of his triangle offense in place from his last stint there. Also, he won't have to deal with any squabbling between his two best players, because this is obviously Kobe Bryant's team now.

In addition to that, Kobe probably learned a lot about himself as a player this season. He should know now that he can't do it all by himself. He needs a structure and a coach who can handle him, and he'd have that with Jackson.

People forget that Jackson is a great coach. Sure he's had some tremendous talent on his teams throughout his career, but they were all players who hadn't won without him. He makes great players even better.

I saw firsthand proof of his greatness as a coach while I played for the New York Knicks after Michael Jordan's first retirement. Without Jordan, Jackson led his team to 55 wins and to the Eastern Conference semifinals, where they lost to my team in seven games.

This has nothing to do with the lakers...(maybe it does)...who's the highest paid player in the NBA? I'm not really into salary in the NBA, i know more about the NHL, MLB player salary than NBA lol

but i read this while reading the story of phil jackson coming back to lakers

O'Neal is scheduled to earn $30.6 million next season, but can opt out this summer and become a free agent. He has said he wants to stay in Miami and has talked with the Heat about a contract extension.

How much did he make this year  :o? ANd is Shaq the highest paid player?

you can bet on that..
what I find weird about NBA salaries in general.. people get a lot less in their prime than they get when they are old and washed up .. not always, but it's pretty likely
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

its the same in the NHL...NFL...and MLB...lol..in soccer players are in their prime for 5 years? (age 25 to 30 right?)...but these sports players get high salary contracts when they're in their mid 30's (sometimes 40's!)
