Question for the MLB and NBA experts......
« on: June 21, 2005, 09:52:46 PM »
I know we got some experts in here, (nik, javier ect) so I have a question for you:  what do you think the chances of Vancouver getting a MLB team or another NBA team are?

I know the AL west only has 4 teams, that's why I'm glad the expos didn't go to portland.

And from what I understand, the owner of the grizzlies wanted to move from the get-go.  He owned other companies here and moved them all to Memphis aswell.

Vancouver has a little over 2 million people.  It's about the same size as seattle in popualtion.  But seattle has way more shit than we do.

I wonder about this all the time.  I fuckin hate hockey, and I need some kind of sporting event to go to.  Anyone know anything?

Las Vegas, Portland, Sacramento, and I think maybe somewhere else on the westcoast will be the next place for a mlb team.  las vegas will be the most likely place to get a new professional sports team.  I wouldn't doubt it if the Sac Kings move their w/in the next few years.  I definately don't see any mlb team in canada anytime soon, especially since the exposed just moved, it just wouldn't be a good investment.

I have always thought it was strange that vegas didn't have any pro teams.

Any well populated city should get a shot at having a sports team.  The tough thing is putting a quality team on the field or court lol.  but i have no idea if any leauge is trying to add another team, i hveant heard anything

I doubt Las Vegas will get anything anytime soon

las vegas is trying very hard.  they were trying to move the A's there.  And there was a ton of speculation of the Kings moving there, because the new stadium in Sac fell thru.  I guarantee w/in 3 years Las Vegas has a pro sports team, and they will be the next city to get a team.

LMAO @ LA getting the next football team.  LA doesn't give one shit about sports except for the Lakers and thats because of all the celebrity fans.  Within the last 10 years both the Raiders and the Rams have left LA, and you think they are getting the next football team? hahahahahaha.

R u kidding
Dodgers = Most Fans have attended dodger games than any other team ALL TIME!!!
Lakers = duh
Clippers = Still A Hot Ticket in LA

The only reason the rams and the raiders left is because they would not built the teams new stadiums....Anahiem did not want a new stadium in Anahiem for the rams....LA wanted to just renovate the coliseum, which was not happening for the raiders owner, so they both bounced....LA is the biggest sports market out there, fuck u talkin about

LOL, LA is one of the biggest cities in america, of course its gonna have a lot of fans, BUT...

comparitivaly it doesn't have shit for fans outside of the lakers.  LA is too superficial for sports, they are more into hollywood and all that bullshit.  before the angels won the world serious a couple of years ago, there was not SHIT for angels fans.  then they get to the world series and win (of course they could only beat the wack ass giants) and all these angels fans emerge.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA fuckin bandwagon fans, that is all LA has.  When the teams are down and out you won't see shit for fans.  Most LA sports fans are gayer than Giant fans.  Come to the Oakland colesium and see some real fuckin baseball fans...yeah it don't sell a whole lot of tickets, thats cuz its so fuckin ghetto there, and most A's fans are broke and spendin their money on alcohol.

And again LMMFAO @ E-Crazy.  The only reason why the teams left is cuz they wouldn't build new stadiums for them huh? LOL.  ANY smart owner will build a new stadium for the team if they got the fans that will come to the stadium and make the owner money.  yet the teams couldn't sell tickets, so I wouldn't be worthwhile financial wise for the owner to build a new stadium.  Use a lil common sense bro.  Why do you think teams move cities?  Cuz they get sick of playing in the same place for so long?  LOL.  It all has to do with money.  No fans = No money = No more team.  2 pro teams in the same sport leaving the same city within less than 10 years, haha, how often has that happened in sports history?  Probably next to never.  That is how sad LA's sports fan base is.

You actually think either owner had enough money to make a stadium?? your outta your mind....both teams wanted Money From The City Of LA & Anahiem, but both declined becuase they did not want to raise taxes when they could use the money to help out the many poor people that are in LA & Orange county....You actually think a sports team owner has $200+ million to spend on a new stadium??? he would have to sacrafice like 8 years of having a crappy team, just to have a luxury stadium.......But then, who would go to watch such a crappy team?? ....Also, the only reason Houston got a new NFL team before LA was because of LA refusing to raise their taxes so high to build a new stadium............and California being in debt did not help matters neither.....

LA Superficial?!?! - Tell that to the old mexican ladys and men that are out at EVERY Dodger Game, Tell that to every Dodger Fan who beats on (and sometimes shoots) Giants fans.....Just look @ People Like NIK and groupies of his, they are Diehard Laker fans

LOOK @ THE CLIPPERS - 60% of home games sold out, with the other 40% with 90%+ attendence (source: Los Angeles Times - Article Written by Jerry Crowe, This past sunday) - - They Have NOT MADE THE PLAYOFFS SINCE I WAS IN THE 5th GRADE! AND STILL HAVE A HUGE FANBASE

Oh, And The Angels play in the OC, ive been a diehard angel fan since i was born, born and raised on angel blood...i aint on no bandwagon tip, but yea, that did happen, but Angel game attendence was far from empty everytime i attended a game...They might have not showed up in the stadium, but they were always a lot of angel fans out there, why would Disney and Arte Moreno Invest so much of their own money on a team that Would not sell?? Your dumb, you sound so stupid......

Oh, and FYI, the staples center - ALL PRIVATLY FUNDED!

Im an NBA and MLB expert  ;D..how dare you put NIK ahead of me for NBA! (Jav does know more about the MLB than me)...

WE WONT GET EITHER. MLB team..wait another 10 years and maybe we'll have a chance, we need a bigger population and the economy a bit better. Plus you know the salaries players are gonna be earning by then? We wont be able to make a profit! Toronto is a big city.

We fucked up the NBA thing.

WE'RE A HOCKEY CITY...LIVE WITH IT! HAHAHHAHA!!!!WHOOOOOOO!

please man, use some common sense before you ever address me again.  of course I don't think that the owners themselves had enough money to build a stadium, I know how it all works and I spelled it out for you.  tattoo it on your ass and bend over to the mirror every day untill LA gets a football team.
