So my computer is fucked..........

The fan on my mainboard burnt out last wednesday.  So I took it in to try and get a replacement.  But of course they don't make that kind anymore.  So I went back on Saturday and got a whole new mainboard and a new processor.  So I put it all in, and nothing fuckin works.  It gets power and all the fans turn on, but the monitor stays blank.  So I'm thinking I could have fucked up the chip when I was putting it in?  I don't think I did, but why else would nothing be happening?  All the ram is in there fine.  1 more thing I have to try is put paper washers between the board and the case of the computer, because it might be arching (but I doubt it).  So there's $200.00 I'll never see again 

anyone got any ideas of what it could be?

I don't know, my brother took it to his friends house, he just got certified for computer hardware or something, and that's what he said.  So I dunno.  I'll try it.

double check to see if your video cable is properly connected. I remember when I built my first computer and I turned it on; I just a black screen on my lcd. Fans were working and the led lights were on. I thought either motheboard was dead, video card was bad, or that my memory sticks were incompatible with my motherboard. After a very frustrating week of checking to see if all my parts were working properly which they were; I decided to make sure I had the lcd cable plugged all the way into my video card. To the point that I couldn't turn those two knobs any further. Next thing I knew I say the logo for my motherboard popping up.

I tried that, the green led on my computer goes on, but the red one (the thinking one) doesn't.  That's kinda why I think it's the processor.

don't connect anything except for the ram.  when you start up your computer like that you should hear the beeps.  if you don't hear the beeps, then you are fucked.  but if you hear them then it is all good.

nothing is beeping at all, I turn it on, and the fans come on, and thats it. 

I put little stickies between the board and the screw holes, but that didn't help either.

You sure you connected all those little color coded power cables properly to the mainboard.. ?? (Usually located at right bottom of the mainboard)
It's easy to put them on to the wrong pins, and they fall out easily..

Also make sure that the CPU is sitting properly into it's slot, and that there's no loose cables inside the cabinet..
It's usually just a cable that's not connected, or sitting in the wrong place.

Edit: And most important of all, check that everything that requires power, have a power cable plugged in.. 
(Harddrives, CD-rom, DVD-rom, floppy, some GFX-cards, etc.)

It could also be that your power supply is not sufficient..
I have a 350W power supply, and when I upgraded I was told that I needed 400, or preferably 450W.. todays computer parts demand more power than before.

thanks Jome, I'll try that.  Hopefully its something simple like that.  And a power supply is only like 40 bucks so i might call up and ask about that.
