Eminem - The Black Album
« on: July 01, 2002, 10:24:27 AM »
Now I don't think there would be anyone better to do this album that Eminem.  He would still go at least double platium and he's got enough money and fame anyways.  I would like to see someone do it.

I can't remember where I heard of this first but if I remember properly, Biggie wanted to do the triple CD "Born Again" after "Life After Death" then he would make "The Black Album".  Well this is an album with no promotion, no videos, no singles and so on.  Well of coarse he died before "Born Again" and none of this could happen.  Now I believe Jay-Z said he was going to do this album but we have yet to see it and he wouldn't want to leave the limelight.  I've never hear anyone else mention it but it could be something that could change the game.  It's very unlikely to happen but it would be dope.

Just something I was thinking about.

It has already been done out of hip hop by Prince. Otherwise, I think Eminem would be a good choice since he'd sell records anyways. I'd like to see Nas, Ras Kass or Scarface do one.

Tight idea. I wonder why nearly nobody in hip hop did it... u surely get props by most serious heads and ur real fans buy it anyways. Em, Nas, even Jigga, everybody who got rich with his music could do that.

It's a great idea, and like WCV says, Prince already rocked it. The problem is that today's music industry is waaaay different from the one Prince was operating in at the top of his game.

Put it like this - if Eminem were to release The Black Album, with no title, photography, single, radioplay, video, tour, promotion etc etc, do you know what would happen?

Motherfuckers would leak it, bootleg it and spread it worldwide before Aftermath could even put the blank cover on it. Bootlegging would totally destroy the point of a release like this. Maybe one day, huh?

How do you figure it would get leaked more than any other album?  If no one knew the album was being made and he kept the studio sessions close knit, I wouldn't think that anyone would even know untill the album would start getting pressed and if the there was no picture or anything in the book except a tracklisting the fuckers in the plant wouldn't even know what the fuck it was.  I would think it wouldn't leak until two or three weeks until the date.  I'm not even sure how the whole process works after the album is complete.

It would be cool regardless.

It would be dope if he would do all the production and rhymin himself.  I don't know if that's ever happend?  Has any solo artist made an album with no guestspots and produced the whole thing alone?

i think that Jay-Z would have the best Black Album because i think it would sound like the shit he did wit the Roots for Mtv unplugged that shit was soulful and it was groundbreaking

also i would like to see em do an album like this 2 because it wouldnt be POP, and it would kinda be like the Infinite album just pure lyrics

I'm surprised (and thankful) none of you muthafuckers are hoping that "Bigg Snoop Dizzle fashizzle :P" will do this.

Seriously, I believe only Nas or Ras Kass can do this.
