All these rumors about Green and Garnett etc. made way too many expectations for Laker-Fans.
the whole Bynum thing was a way to "recreate" the Kobe and Shaq era
You can't teach height is the only positive thing that comes to my mind about this player. Ive never seen him play though lol, but well, centers suck nowadays. I bet my ass that the only center with a future from this draft is this Australian dude who got picked first. All these rumors about Green and Garnett etc. made way too many expectations for Laker-Fans. Everyone who believed any of this Addicted to Beef BS will be extremely disappointed after the Off-Season.
Personally....it seems like many fans have different opinions on us picking them. I am the type of fan that looks at it like...I haven't really kept up with many of the players in the draft, but these people in the high offices usually have a better vision than most fans, and even though they definitely hit and miss a lot of times, I'd trust their judgement more than most others. If we had been around in 1985 and at this age on the internet, I am VERY sure that there were probably Bulls fans who were pissed that they couldn't get Sam Bowie over Jordan, and probably said shit like "Damn, this Jordan cat did good in college, but he won't be a Dr. J or a Magic. I wish we coulda traded up to get Sam Bowie." I am also sure that in 1996, some people probably thought the Lakers were stupid to get rid of Vlade for "some young high school kid who isn't as good as Garnett was the year before" and taking a chance because we were trying to get Shaq. But it goes both ways...sometimes the fans will call somethin before it happens when it comes to a bust. One thing that should be upside is that Bynum said his idol is Tim Duncan, which means he is probably a very fundamental player who should be able to keep his ego in check. I don't know when Bynum was projected, but it definitely wasn't high like that. But I did hear about him on TV, mainly because of the controversy because he was 17 and Stern changed the age limit, and his mom was pissed.
I don't think anyone thought Bowie was more talented than Jordan, he was simply picked because the team needed to fill the forward position...

Teams already chosed their players without considering Green available afther the #10 pick, and they didnt change the idea at the last moment, selecting a guy they didnt "prove".
