My thoughts on the Lakers picking Andrew Bynum etc.

I dunno what's going on, but how did this kid get picked number 10 in a draft like this...I might be speaking too soon, but what's so special about averaging 22 points in high-school, especially when you're 7 feet tall? I mean, I haven't really seen him play or anything, but I think Jordan Farmar, who averaged over 30 points in high-school, would've even been a better pick (even though he didn't make himself eligible for the draft)...I remember reading all these draft rumors about how the Lakers were looking at Gerald Green and how they even wanted to trade away some of their stronger players to move up in the draft just to select him...Websites were listing him as a top 5 pick and he got picked extremely late at number 18 by the lucky Celtics...Then this Andrew kid comes out of nowhere and gets selected at number 10, looks like a huge gamble to me, but then again, ya'll know Jerry Buss...I believe Djion Thompson, who was picked late in the second round by New York, will have a better year than Bynum, and probably even a better career...I just hope that what the Lakers saw in Bynum was real, because this came as a huge surprise to me...And speaking of Djion Thompson, too bad the Knicks couldn't keep him, I think he woulda' been a great fit with former teammate Trevor Ariza...Imagine, two late 2nd round picks, both former teammates, becoming two of the better players on their team together in the NBA...I think Phoenix got lucky for getting the rights to him, and I don't know why he was selected so late anyways...But these are just some random thoughts I've been having on a few players I've been keeping my eye on...Hopefully everything works out for the Lakers, but in my eyes, the Lakers haven't been progressing as of yet this off-season...What are your thoughts and opinions on this?

the whole Bynum thing was a way to "recreate" the Kobe and Shaq era

You can't teach height is the only positive thing that comes to my mind about this player. Ive never seen him play though lol, but well, centers suck nowadays. I bet my ass that the only center with a future from this draft is this Australian dude who got picked first. All these rumors about Green and Garnett etc. made way too many expectations for Laker-Fans. Everyone who believed any of this Addicted to Beef BS will be extremely disappointed after the Off-Season.

I dont see how the rumors about Lakers signed Green made way too many expectations for Laker-Fans. I mean we had a chance to get him with the #10 pick, it wasnt impossible. Garnett is impossible.

Ummm...I highly doubt anyone in their right mind thinks this Bynum kid was selected to "recreate the Kobe and Shaq era"...If anything, Phil Jackson's said to be tryna recreate the Jordan and Pippen era with Kobe and Lamar...It's pretty obvious that by the time Bynum develops, Kobe will most likely be in his 30's, which kills any chance of "recreating a Kobe and Shaq era"...Hopefully, the world gets to see a lot of what the Laker organization saw in Bynum when he worked out for them...But does anyone know where Bynum was projected to be picked? cuz I don't remember hearing anything about him, and that leaves me with some frustration that the Lakers didn't send their 10th pick to some other team in a trade, because I'm pretty sure he woulda' still been available much later in the draft...Gerald Green was rated much higher than him, and outperformed him by a whole lot in the high school all-star game...Oh well, I'm starting to wonder what's going on in Jerry's head...
